Xmas gifts wanted for needy
THIS FESTIVE season,
Ray White will continue its
successful charity drive A Little
Ray of Giving for the 10th year
running.
The campaign is a tradition
for the brand, and serves as an
opportunity for hundreds of
local branches to connect with
their communities while
raising awareness and
much-needed resources
for worthy causes.
As a charitable
initiative, the campaign
will see Ray White
Ferrymead partner with
Ronald McDonald House
South Island to help
people, families and groups who
may need some extra support
and care during the festive
season.
“This campaign has always
been a real highlight of our year.
It gives us a chance to reach out
to the people around us directly
in a way that benefits people
with less advantages, and get
them things they need during
a demanding time of year,” Ray
White Ferrymead principal
Craig Prier said.
The Ray White Ferrymead
team is calling on people
to show their generosity by
sending their donations to the
company for collection and safe
storage.
“Both 2021 and 2020 have
been extremely difficult for
everyone but no one’s felt the
negatives more than those
groups that were already
vulnerable. Lots of people
and families have even found
themselves in a bad position
because of the way things have
gone recently. So this year’s A
Little Ray of Giving is
especially important to
us, and it’s going to be a
good way to let people
in need of help know
that their community
supports them,” Prier
said.
Those who wish to
donate a gift just need
to inform the Ray White team
if the gift is for a male or female
and nominate an age group.
Ray White Ferrymead, 21
Humphreys Drive, Ferrymead,
will have its special giving tree
in the front window and will
be collecting gifts until December
5.
The gifts are safely stored on
the premises and are collected
by Ronald McDonald House
South Island. Ray White has run
this initiative since 2012, and
every year, offices from across
Australia and New Zealand
have collected thousands of gifts
and donations for not-for-profit
organisations and charities
and uplifted hundreds of
communities in the process.
Library to
open soon
after revamp
THE DIAMOND Harbour
Library is scheduled to reopen on
December 6 after the installation
of new floor coverings and an
internal paint job.
“This work is part of
Christchurch City Libraries’ 10-
year refurbishment programme,
and it completes the work we
started last year when we redid
Diamond Harbour’s
reception
area and upgraded
the data
and electrical
wiring,” head
of libraries and
information
Carolyn Robertson
said.
“Because
the period of
Carolyn
Robertson
closure is relatively short, we do
not envisage too much disruption
to customers, so mobile library
services will not be provided,”
Robertson said.
“The Wi-Fi will still stay
switched on during the closure,
but the library’s returns bins will
be unable to accept returned
items. You can drop items off at
any other library in our network –
the nearest alternative is Lyttelton
Library, and any hold items
requested by customers will be
made available there too.’’
The Wild Twins
Tales of Strength and Survival
by Amber Shine, Serena Shine
Twin sisters Amber and Serena Shine on strength, survival and a lifetime seeking
adventure
Amber and Serena Shine have wild in their blood. From their first steps, the twins
set out from their family farm in rural Waiuku with the bush and mountains in sight.
Together they’ve run the world’s highest marathon on Mount Everest, walked jaguars
in the Amazon, sailed treacherous seas from Hawai’i to San Francisco, navigated
ice falls while climbing Mount Cook, raced 322 kilometres on a dogsled, and
survived naked in the African wilderness for twenty-one days on the hit Discovery
show Naked and Afraid.
In The Wild Twins, Amber and Serena share their most extreme achievements, the
secrets behind their strength and endurance, and advice on living life to its fullest.
With go-getter attitudes, perseverance and fearlessness, these inspiring sisters are
all about getting outdoors and reaching your potential - returning home covered in
mud and with a story to tell.
