Leaking water a common problem
LEAKING water supplies are
once again the most common
reason why residents of the
Papanui-Innes Community
Board area are contacting the
city council.
A ticket report has
revealed a breakdown of
issues that residents contacted
the city council about
between October 20 and
November 19.
The report shows leaking
water supplies to be the most
common cause of complaint,
with 178 tickets, or jobs, undertaken
for this.
Water leaks were also the
top issue between July 21 and
The second and third most
widespread issues in the most
recent report were damaged
bins and uncollected bins,
with 150 and 107 tickets
respectively.
A total 1120 tickets, or jobs,
were completed within an
average of days.
However, at the conclusion
of the report last month, 525
tickets were still open, or not
completed.
Incidents fell in a range of
categories, including transport,
wheelie bins, property
information and three waters
council assets.
Phone, email and walk-in
were the most common
way to contact the council,
with 862 people using these
methods.
The city council website
was used by 483 people to
report their issue, while
298 did so using Snap Send
Let’s use water like we oughta
Morning time? Watering the garden is fine
Avoid watering between 3 and 9pm
Hold off on the hose and you’ll help take the pressure off our
pumps and pipes during evening peak demand this summer.
That way, everyone gets a fair share.
• Target water to plants that need it by using a hand-held hose or watering can
• Water every second day in the early morning or late evening, when it’s cool
• Consider water timers and planting drought-resistant gardens
• Avoid watering lawns and grass berms
• Seek the leak – find out how to check your property for leaks
• Leak in the road? Use our Snap Send Solve app, or contact us
