Friday 7th January 2022
Welcome to 2022. I hope that it has started well for you all and that you have managed to stay
safe from Covid and its variants. The closure of Struie membership applications has seen quite
a rush to beat the deadline and the Council of Management will be considering 58 on Monday
evening. It seems that the popularity of the Club has not diminished during these difficult times
and I look forward to meeting these new friends over the coming months and years.
The slight changes in testing for travel are welcome and I hope that by the time many of our
overseas members are getting ready to visit it is even simpler to make the journey to Dornoch.
East v West of the Burn, Sun 2nd January
The wonderful weather last Sunday saw the second biggest field participate in our annual match. The 47 players on the
East team averaged 24.96 points for the 13 holes while the West’s 39 players averaged 24.79 so the East took the win
by just 0.17 points on average - the closest result there has ever been! This gives the East a 4 - 3 lead in titles won.
We’re Hiring!
With the prospect of a very busy season ahead then we need to add to the team so that we ensure we can look after
all the members, guests and visitors that will coming to Dornoch this year.
who may be interested in joining us for a full time, part time or seasonal position.
Golf Courses
The team were welcomed back to work on Wednesday after their Christmas break only to be greeted with cold frosty
weather and even some snow. However on the Championship Course we did manage to finish the turfing of the
pathway on the 8th hill and areas on the 7th fairway with the pathways between the 13th green and 14th tees prepared
for turfing and we did get some turf down on this area until we were stopped due to the frosty conditions. The cutting
and burning of the bushes on the right of the 15th continues.
Play from Mats - When you see a mat on a teeing ground then you MUST use this for your tee shot.
Bunkers - We have reinstated the Preferred Lie local rule for the time being.
Rakes - Please put rakes in the CENTRE of the bunker once you have exited and finished raking - see below.
Pitchmarks - Please repair your own and any others that you see.
Thanks for reading.
Happy Golfing!
