Exhibition honours war service of animals<br />

An outdoor exhibition of photographs,<br />
taken at amemorial service honouring<br />
the war service of animals, has been<br />
installed in Rangiora.<br />
The 11colour images in the exhibition<br />
were taken by five Rangiora<br />
Photographic Society members, Colleen<br />
and Arthur Linnell, Karina Templeton,<br />
Sarah Perrins and Peter Bradshaw.<br />
Colleen said they were ‘‘absolutely<br />
thrilled to have their photographs in the<br />
exhibition.’’<br />
The colour images are on show in freestanding<br />
display boxes outside the<br />
Rangiora Library, in Percival Street.<br />
The memorial service was held on<br />
Friday, November 19 last year at the<br />
Rangiora War Memorial Cenotaph<br />
where aplaque was unveiled by<br />
Waimakariri District Mayor, Dan<br />
Gordon, and one of the organisers of the<br />
service and the plaque, Theresa<br />
Rosanowski.<br />
It is the first time the war service of<br />
animals has been honoured in New<br />
Zealand and possibly, the world.<br />
