Construction, modifications, and repairs affecting the test bounda ry snali be complete and the inlet and discharge openings of the duct or housing
(sealed before the test is sta rted. All elect rical, piping, and instrument connections shall be complete ant: all permanent seals shall be installed
928 TA-111.4100 Constant Pressure Mefhod:
(a) Connect the pressuriza ti on source to the duct or housing.
(b) Connect the flowmeter or totalizing gas volume meter between the pressurization source and the housing (downstream of the th rottling valve. I
if used).
(c) Install temperature and p ressure indicating devices so that they will indicate representative temperature and press ure Inside the duct or
housing being tested.
(d) Seal test bou nd aries and close access doo rs In the normal manner.
except for sealing the tempora ry blank-off panels,
Do not use tempora ry sealants, duct tape, or similar tempora ry materials
(e) Start the pressu ri r
zation source and operate it until the maximum operating pressure Is acNeved. Maintain p ressure constant with the flow
control device until temperature remains constant witfun +0.5 deg F (0.25 deg C) for a minimum of 10 minutes. Record the ini ti al stabilized
.pressure, temperature and barometric pressure.
929 TA-111.4100 Constant Pressure Method:
(f) Measure the f low rate of the air being added to or removed from the duct or housin g while maintaining the maximum operating pressure within
+/-0.1 in. w.g. (0.025 Kpa(gage)). When using the flow meter, record flow readings once a minute for a 5 minute continuous period and average the
! readings to calculate the measured leak rate, When using a totalizing gas volume meter, measure the total volume of air for a 10 minute
(
period and divide the riiea5ured vuiurne dy time (10 rridrule5) iu caiuuiaie the measured ieak raie.
and barometric p
Record final preaaure, iemperaiura i
ssure.
(g ) Conve rt the rinal calculated leak rate to standard cubic feet per minute (cubic meters per second) in accordance with the method illustrated In
AC IH Indust ri a VerAila Icn A Manual of Recommended Practice.
930 TA-111.4200 Pressure Dewy Test:
(a) Connect the pressuriza tion source (with a leak tight shulo tf valve) to the duct or lousing.
(b) Install the tempera ture and pressu re indicating deices where they will indicate representative temperature and pressu re Inside the duct or
housing being tested.
(c) Seal test boundaries and close access doors in the normal manner. Do not use tempora ry sealants, duct tape, or similar tempora ry materials
except for sealing the tempora ry blank-off panels.
(d) Sta rt the pressurization source and operate until the pressure is 1.25 t ; mes the maximum operat i ng pressure (but not to exceed the structural
capability pres sure). Maintain this p r e ssure constant with a flow control device anti( temperature remains constant within + 1-0 .5 deg F (0,25 deg C)
f r a minimum of 10 minute s. Close shutoff valve.
