At the recent COP 26
UN Climate Change
Conference in
Glasgow, where over
100 countries made net-zero
pledges to limit global warming
to 1.5°C, attention is now
focused on the energy sector,
which is responsible for over
70% of global greenhouse gas
emissions. To counteract this,
renewable energy is poised to
take on the challenge, playing
a vital role in reducing global
warming.
According to recent reports,
advanced robotics, advanced
photovoltaic (PV), big
data, artificial intelligence,
blockchain, distributed
energy storage systems,
grid integration, bioenergy,
green hydrogen, wind, and
hydropower will get the most
attention in the renewable
energy industry.
The COP26 climate conference
also saw the United States,
Canada, and 18 other nations’
agreement to phase out public
financing for fossil fuel projects
overseas by the end of 2022
and instead invest in renewable
energy. By bringing together
wealthy donor countries and
poorer developing countries
that receive international
financial assistance, the
COP26 agreement intends

polluting projects in favor
of renewable energy, both
to reduce emissions and to
prevent stranded assets.
However, 2022 also sees a
roadblock for the renewable
section, particularly because
of the Omicron variant. When
immunizations become more
readily accessible this year,
worldwide energy companies
will confront a quandary. recruit
unvaccinated workers.
While forcing vaccinations
will undoubtedly spark
controversy, at least one large
corporation will try it. Nationally
controlled oil businesses
seem to be a sensible early
adopter, but more responsible
multinational organizations will
find themselves at the heart of
a volatile debate.
It would appear that this choice,
two years after the pandemic
began, is the most challenging
consequence directly related
to COVID-19. However, while
many parts of the world have
adjusted to the “new normal,”
such as the continued anxiety
over the Omicron variety, at
least one more concern is
expected in 2022.

Enhancing Hygiene and
Security of Business
Operations During
COVID Alert Level 3
Good hygiene and cleanliness have become further emphasized, especially with
the Philippines under alert level 3 measures to combat the growing COVID-19
pandemic. Under such restrictions, a nightly 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM curfew, facemask
and face shield requirements, strict social distancing protocols, adjustment
of operation hours of various businesses and establishments, etc. are being implemented
nationwide. Due to the cyclical pattern of addressing the pandemic, the term “new normal” is
now just “normal”.
Because of the state of the world, washing hands has transformed from an action we almost
always forget to do before a meal, into an hourly ritual required to stave off COVID-19 and any
other potential viruses or bacteria that may come our way.Luckily for us, Co Ban Kiat Hardware
8
Inc. is here to supply the general public with
offensive and defensive tools to help us stay clean
and healthy. With these products, each room in
any place will be spick and span—great for us, bad
for those pesky microbes.
To blow away those viruses, Deton’s industrial
wall fans, commercial floor fans, and drum fans
are readily available for purchase. As the largest
manufacturer of ventilation equipment, Deton’s
products are highly optimized in design and
structure. Comfortable and safe wind emerges
from these fans, making them an ideal choice for
cooling factories, mining industries, garages, and
more.
Experts in Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention recommends a layered approach to
reduce exposures to SARS-CoV-2, the virus
that causes COVID-19. This approach includes
using multiple mitigation strategies, including
improvements to building ventilation, to reduce
the spread of disease and lower the risk of
exposure. Deton’s industrial fans are the perfect
product to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in
office and industrial settings.
Making floors spotless are Nifisk’s vacuums.
For businesses and institutions to remain in
operation, the foundations and floors upon
which we walk must be dirt and dust-free.
Thus, these vacuums are the best tools to
sanitize hospitals, unsully store aisles, disinfect
warehouses, and hundreds of other locations.
Nilfisk’s vacuums boast a custom-built,
automated design that draws in dirt, pet hair,
dust, little particles of random materials easily

and effortlessly. Nilfisk boasts their vacuum
models’ ease of use, maneuverability, particle
retention, and much, much more.
Truly, these ventilation technologies and vacuum
cleaners will make any space a speckless safe
haven. But an immaculate location can only
protect you so much. The greatest weapon against
COVID-19 or any other virus or bacteria for
that matter is washing your hands thoroughly.
According to the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, washing your hands with soap
and water for 20 seconds will guarantee the death
of bacteria and other foreign bodies.
That being said, the Delta Faucent and the Dyson
Airblade is your sword and shield against those
infectous diseases.
The Delta faucets last longer than your average
kitchen faucet, prevents leakages effectively,
Includes a magnetic holder for the kitchen sprayer,
fits easily into standard sink configurations, and is
easy to clean spray holes. The water output is also
powerful enough to make any clingy particle slide
right down.
Meanwhile, the Dyson Airblade Hand Dryer
is touch-free, which helps prevent the spread
of bacteria and viruses. This dryer has HEPA
filters fitted as standard. For over 15 years Dyson
microbiologists have drawn on expertise from
a range of sectors, including the food industry,
the public health sector, academia and chemical
microbiology – to ensure its Dyson Airblade
technology is hygienic for real-world use.

Solving both of these challenges this year will result in
significant action for the sector. For the power sector,
2022 may prove to be a tipping moment.
More Aggressive International Policies
to Combat Coal in 2022
For years, anybody with an interest in science has
aided in the transition of the energy sector toward a
more environmentally friendly generation. In 2022,
when this effect wears out, the energy transition will
be accelerated by the high cost and inefficiency of
contemporary fossil fuels.
For two weeks in November, the Glasgow Climate
Conference placed the worldwide forces driving
energy creation on full display. The ultimate outcome
was varied, with the majority of agreements only
formalizing an already-initiated process. However,
the COP26 concessions establish certain welldefined
objectives for electricity output for COP27 in
November 2022.
At the time, the well-publicized last-minute revisions
that weakened an otherwise unanimous resolution
against coal power production seemed to be a victory
for India, China, and pollution. However, given the
nature of the change and the outrage generated by
the concession, this struggle is far from over. Expect
COP27 delegates to begin by taking aim at coal and
then building momentum against individual fossil
fuels.
Almost every country today has a national goal
of achieving net-zero emissions. The next step of
decarbonization will include enhancing them.
This might begin in Germany, where the next
administration intends to accelerate the country’s coal
plant closures. Australia’s very modest, non-binding
net-zero aim has garnered more public support than
government backing. This administration is on track to
lose the general election next year, with practically all

other parties demonstrating a greater commitment to decarbonization. In 2022, it seems as if
carbon goals would be strengthened, but stranger things have occurred in Australian politics.
The shifting tide begins to surpass the upstream battle of fossil fuels. The energy shift
continues with each passing year and climate summit, and the rationale for preserving fossil
fuel businesses deteriorates. As a result, acting against fossil fuels becomes simpler, speeding
up their decline.
The G20 group of countries committed to ending foreign funding of coal projects by 2021. This
came after China made more immediate pledges and before the US made minor ones. These
pronouncements have little effect on domestic coal construction, but everything is connected
to and impacts everything else in a globalized system.
The coal construction pipeline has begun its downward spiral, with 82% of pre-construction
contracts concentrated in just six nations. These include India and China, although trade
tensions and supply constraints have increased the market’s cost and inefficiency.
Market dynamics will eventually swing permanently in favor of renewables. This occurred,
perhaps, in 2020, when a pandemic disrupted fossil fuel markets and renewables continued
their steady price decline. This would have attracted investors’ attention if not for the pandemic’s
own diversion.
Allowing for immunization, adaptation, thinking time, and project lag, 2022 will begin to
demonstrate some of the long-term effects of 2020’s market disruption. Anticipate the
cancellation of previously delayed projects and an increase in investment in renewable energy
from worldwide fossil fuel businesses.
Robust Business Policies
In 2021, there was a simple solution to the vaccine issue. Due to vaccine distribution disparities,
establishing a consistent immunization program across a worldwide workforce is impractical.
In 2022, when vaccinations become more widely available, international energy firms will face
a dilemma. Should firms continue to hire unvaccinated personnel, particularly those who work
in close quarters, such as on offshore installations?
While mandating immunization will be controversial, at least one big firm will attempt it. Nationally
controlled oil corporations seem to be a reasonable early adopter, but more responsible huge
firms will find themselves at the center of a tumultuous discussion.
This choice, two years into the pandemic, seems to be the most difficult direct consequence
of COVID-19. While the majority of other parts of trade have adjusted to the “new normal,” like
with the continued anxiety about the Omicron variety, anticipate at least one new variant of
concern in 2022.

Electric Vehicle
Adhesives Market
Worth $2.1 Billion
Electric Vehicle Adhesives Market size is expected to grow at from USD 223 million
in 2019 to USD 2,158 million by 2024 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of
57.0% during the forecast period.
The major factor driving the electric vehicle adhesives industry during the forecast period
includes, the transition of the internal combustion engine (ICE) to electric vehicles will be
key to the increasing consumption of EV adhesives. The growing climate change concerns
and stricter emission controls are pushing the growth of electric vehicle across the world.
Exterior type to be the largest application type during the
forecast period.
The design of electric vehicles has to be lightweight to counter the weight of the battery
system used in electric vehicle. The bonding of dissimilar materials is done with the help
of structural adhesives, which further replaces fasteners, rivets and spot welding, hence
48
contributing to lightweight. The use of structural adhesives also addresses the issue of
crashworthiness and safety of battery systems in electric vehicle. With the continuous
development in the technology, the consumption of adhesives in the exterior parts of electric
vehicle will further increase during the forecast period.
Plastic is projected to be the fastest-growing substrate in the
EV adhesive market
The growth of electric vehicles will propel the growth of plastics which is an essential
material required in the manufacturing. The growth of plastics in electric vehicle is driven
by the quest to make electric vehicle lightweight. The plastics that are used in the electric
vehicle can be categorized into polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), acrylonitrile
butadiene styrene (ABS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyamide (PA), polycarbonate and
other engineering resins. In electric vehicle, plastics are used in end-use applications such
as interior, exterior, lighting & electric wires and under the hood section. The increasing use
of plastics requires adhesives for bonding, and this increases the demand for EV adhesives
in substrate segments.
APAC to be the largest market during the forecast period.
The rising trade war tensions between the US & China and low labor costs in China have
forced various end-users of adhesives to relocate and establish their manufacturing base in
the ASEAN countries. This relocation is expected to increase the demand for adhesives in
the ASEAN countries. India offers low-cost labor, which can provide significant investment
opportunities for companies. Government initiatives such as Make in India and proposed
scheme on entrepreneurship development by the current government may open up
additional opportunities in the industrial and infrastructure construction segments. All these
factors are expected to drive the market in APAC.
The major players in Electric Vehicle Adhesives Market are Henkel (Germany), H.B. Fuller
(US), Sika AG (Switzerland), 3M (US), Wacker Chemie AG (Germany), Bostik SA – An
Arkema company (France), L&L Products (US), Jowat SE (Germany), Ashland (US), PPG

Two Utility Scale
Projects
United Renewable Energy LLC,
a leading national solar project
developer and construction firm,
has completed construction on two
solar photovoltaic projects in Georgia totaling
over 3.8 MW of generation on approximately
30 acres of land. Both projects were made
possible by debt financing from United
Community Bank, a Southeastern regional
community bank with specialized commercial
lending capabilities, including renewable
energy financing.
The solar projects are located in Northern
Georgia, one in Chattooga County near Trion
and the other in Stephens County. Both projects
benefit the local community with lease or tax
payments, while the Trion project uses land
near the Chattooga River which had limited
traditional development potential. This project
portfolio uniquely brings solar generation to
North Georgia, in contrast to the vast majority
of solar projects in the state which are located
in rural areas of South Georgia.
The energy generated by the solar projects
is purchased by a local utility under separate
competitively awarded purchased power
agreements. The solar projects generate
enough energy to offset the annual usage of
nearly 400 homes.
“We are pleased to have been a part in
bringing these projects to fruition because
of the many real benefits it provides the local
communities. We appreciate the opportunity
to partner with an industry leader such as
United Renewable Energy to support the
growth of the solar industry in the Southeast,”
said Clayton Summers, Senior Vice President
of Renewable Energy Finance at United
Community Bank.
The Trion project debt closings completed
earlier this year. The unique revenue streams
required a custom debt structure, highlighting
United Community Bank’s unique ability to
understand the challenges of solar energy
projects including uneven monthly revenue
streams, low initial energy values, and other
challenges to solar financing. “Without United
Community Bank’s strong focus on solar
and unique structure, the private owners of
52
these projects would have had a difficult time
acquiring and funding these projects,” said
William Silva, CEO of United Renewable Energy
LLC. “We are proud to have developed and
constructed these beautiful projects with the
wonderful people of Chattooga and Stephens
counties, and to work with the project owners
and United Community Bank through the post
construction debt diligence process.”
A spokesperson for the project owners stated,
“We appreciate United Community Bank and
United Renewable Energy for their diligent
efforts that enabled our investors to make this
solid investment and recoup their capital to
use in future investment opportunities.”

Tips to Enhance Your
Workspace to Increase
Employee Productivity
employee efficiency while retaining their

self-grooming and training, workplace
ambiance also plays a major role in employee
productivity. If you have been ignoring the
significance of a healthy workplace, then it’s
time to pull it on top of your priority list:
Here are some tips for creating a workspace

Update Office:
Here are some tips for creating
a workspace that triggers your
employees right on point to produce
the best results.
Every business yearns to turn into a corporate
giant and reach an unparalleled height where
no competitor can reach them. That’s why
every organization pays attention to boosting
employee working and productivity. No matter
how much competent and qualified your
employees are, there are always ways to bring
betterment in their performance and efficiency.
But most organizations don’t understand
that employee productivity isn’t all about
accomplishing an assigned task quickly and in
a better way. It’s about continuously improving
Positive change in the physical environment
of an office plays a significant role in
employee engagement and productivity. It
doesn’t mean that you should hire a designer
or create a lavishing space.
Focus on little things like proper furniture,
lightning, and equipment also create a
huge difference. The key is to create a
work environment which fosters new ideas,
creativity, and where employees don’t feel
depressed and bound.

56
Organize your Office: You are wrong if you
think that a messy office symbolizes that you
are too busy creating great ideas. Don’t get
inspired by Einstein’s messy hair. Cluttered
and messy work environment hinders
creativity rather than fostering it.
Just imagine how you will feel if you enter a
space where spare chairs are rolling on the
floor, cartons are piled up in a corner, and
dust-covered broken printer and photocopy
machine are placed helplessly in the other
corner? Wouldn’t that be suffocating? So,
how can you expect your employees to work
in such an environment?
You should create a space to keep all these
spare, broken, and other service goods to
increase your workspace potential to do more.
You can choose any industrial shed design
according to your requirement and create a
place to place excessive and broken things
to get an organized workspace.
Give Personal Space:
Most organizations focus on creating a space
which fosters mutual coordination, harmony,
and collaboration for strong teamwork. But
little do they know that individual space is also
essential to enhance employee productivity.
requirements and mood. So, you should give
your employees the liberty to create a personal
workspace to enhance their productivity and
well-being.
Room for a Break:
Humans’ brain doesn’t like the feeling of
being bound. That’s why you start feeling dull
and depressed after sticking to a particular
space for a long time. A little change in the
environment has a pleasant impact on your
mood and creativity. Same goes with your
employees! Looking at the same walls, sitting
on a particular chair and living in the same
environment can decrease their productivity
and creativity.
It is essential to have a break room for your
employees where they can relax, recharge
their brain, and have a much-needed change
of environment for better productivity.
Your employees are not machines, they
are humans, and humans need favorable
ambiance and surroundings to produce
better results. Make sure you provide them
their desirable work environment if you want
your employees to show good performance
and company grow.

4 Tips for Restoring Your
OId Furniture
Your furniture is the life of your living room, and if it is getting old and rusty, it means
your living room is losing its charm. You can consider buying a new one, but that will
drain all your savings. Buying new furniture is not the only option you have if your
furniture has lost its beauty. There are several ways in which you can restore your
furniture and can make it look as good as new. You can lighten up your living room by using
the same furniture by just following a few DIY tips. Let’s have a look at a few tips that will help
you turn your new furniture into a new one.
Paint It Over
The easiest and the most effective tip to make your furniture look new is to paint it over. Most
of the time, the furniture looks dull because it loses its finish or original color. But, you can fix
that easily by giving it a new paint. This will also give you an opportunity to change the color
of the furniture. So, if there is a color which you always wanted to add in your living room, pick
that one and start painting. If you are creative, you can also paint designs on it. That way it will
feel like you just got the latest model from the market.
60
Use Wallpaper
If the idea of painting the furniture sounds too messy for you, then do not worry, you can forget
about that option and can always go for wallpapers. Covering it with paper will not just give it a
new design but it will also keep the surface protected. The best part about this is that you can find
thousands of different paper designs in the market. This allows you to choose the perfect match for
your living room. It also saves you the trouble of dipping your hands in paint.
Use Hole Plug
If your furniture is too old and has small holes in it, you can fix that as well by using hole plugs.
Hole plugs are designed specifically to cover furniture holes. They are mostly made with durable
plastics and are very reliable. They are very easy to install as well because all you need to do is
plug it. You can find hole plugs in various sizes, so you can always choose the one that will be
perfect for your furniture hole. They come in different colors and designs as well, so you can easily
find the one that matches your furniture color or texture.
Clean It Thoroughly
You can restore the look of your old furniture by doing something as simple as cleaning it deeply.
Everyone cleans their furniture regularly, but with time it gets a bit dull and requires deep cleaning.
Use soap or detergents to clean it properly; especially the leather part. You can also use a vacuum
cleaner as well to get out all the dust. Using shining cleaners can also give a lively look to your
furniture.

Digital Innovation
in the Construction
Industry
The future of real estate development
is digital innovation, with demand
for cost-effective, innovative and
sustainable buildings inspiring
data-led business models that will help fuel
the continued growth of the Middle East
construction industry, according to subject
matter experts at construction and real estate
consultancy, Drees & Sommer.
“Innovation and sustainability in construction,
specifically in connection with new digital
innovation solutions, are driving the future
of real estate in Asia,” said Dierk Mutschler,
CEO, Drees & Sommer.
“A gentle slowdown in some regional
markets coupled with the emergence of new
technology and business models will pave
the way for forward-thinking companies to
capitalise on these shifts. From 2020, the
increasingly competitive environment will
result in more demand for quality products,
leading to a longer-term focus on investment
in sustainable business models. After all,
future business models, products and
services will be measured not only by their
economic success, but by their impact on our
environment,” asserted Mutschler.
“Old business models will become obsolete,”
he continued. “Real estate developers and
contractors will need to truly understand
data and what digitisation means for the
construction industry. They will need to design
and construct buildings with the capacity to
adapt to new technology and future needs for
the next 50 to 80 years.
“Ultimately, digitisation means ‘software’. If
smart buildings are in danger of becoming
outdated, a software update can make them
state-of-the-art again. In our Drees & Sommer
innovation laboratories, we are researching
the use of regenerative technology, which
will help ensure buildings are adaptable and
future-proof – offering significant cost-saving
benefits too,“ said Mutschler.
64
He cited the findings of the KPMG Global
Construction Survey, which forecasts six to
10 percent growth in ASEAN’s construction
sector in 2020 and Global Construction 2020,
a report from PricewaterhouseCoopers,
Global Construction Perspectives and Oxford
Economics, which forecasts US $4.3 trillion will
be spent on construction in Asia over the next
decade, as indicative of the positive outlook for
the sector.
Degenhart commented: “The opportunities
for growth lie within these shifts and changes.
We predict that buildings will be completely
reimagined and investors will need to consider
how their business models will serve the new
demands of end users. Existing buildings
will also need extensive repositioning and
revitalisation in order to compete in the digitised
environment of the future.”
There are a host of smart technology solutions
already available, from 3D laser scanning
and digital innovation modular fabrication to
intelligent construction equipment and BIM
models for design and construction, not to
mention the use of IoT systems, robotics and
data-driven business models for operation.
Challenges lie in achieving the successful
integration or networking of multiple systems
from different technology providers and
critically, according to Degenhart, in realising a
change in mindset.
He said: “digital innovation solutions have the
power to dramatically impact the way we plan,
construct and operate buildings. According
to recent research by McKinsey & Company,
adopting digital innovation solutions throughout
every phase of the construction process could
increase market productivity by as much as 15
per cent and reduce project costs by up to 45
per cent.
“At Drees & Sommer, we are looking forward to
working with developers and investors seeking
to expand or enhance their portfolio in 2020, as
well as supporting those new to the region. Our
goal is to deliver cost-effective and sustainable
buildings, profitable real estate portfolios,
people-oriented working environments,
visionary mobility concepts and liveable cities,
” concluded Degenhart.

Anixa Biosciences’
Covid-19 Compounds
Expected to be Effective
Against the Delta Variant
Anixa Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANIX), a biotechnology company focused on the
treatment and prevention of cancer and infectious diseases, announced today that
a genomic variant analysis indicates that its potential compounds may be even
more effective against the Delta variant than the original wild type SARS-CoV-2.
While vaccination has proven to be an effective strategy to prevent Covid-19, the need exists
for inexpensive, room-temperature stable, and orally bioavailable therapeutics for COVID-19.
Reasons for this need include the large percentage of individuals that have chosen to remain
unvaccinated, the logistics and expense of distributing the vaccines worldwide, the reduction
in efficacy that is seen for certain variants, and the expected need to continuously require
booster shots due to waning immunity.
Anixa’s program in collaboration with European partner MolGenie, focuses on identifying
novel, small molecule inhibitors of Mpro, the main protease of the virus. The current
68
compounds that Anixa is synthesizing and evaluating have demonstrated their ability to
inhibit the function of this protein, which the virus needs to replicate.
A key attribute of a successful therapeutic is the need to be effective against the prevailing
variants that are circulating, especially if such emerging variants are more infectious. Since
the authorized vaccines target a surface protein of the SARS-CoV-2, known as the spike
protein, variants demonstrating variability in evading the vaccines are characterized by
mutations in this protein. The prevailing variant of concern is known as the Delta variant.
In an attempt to evaluate whether the compounds Anixa is developing might be effective
against the Delta variant, Anixa undertook an analysis of the corresponding Mpro enzyme
mutations in the Delta variant. While mutations in the spike protein do not necessarily
force a mutation in other functional proteins like Mpro, Anixa’s analysis and published work
demonstrate that a key mutation in Mpro does exist for the Delta variant. Sequence analysis
of several Delta variant samples demonstrate that the Mpro enzyme often has a mutation that
replaces an asparagine (an amino acid) with leucine (another amino acid) at position 142,
near the binding site. This change makes the binding pocket of Mpro more hydrophobic.
By virtue of this change, the analysis indicates that Anixa’s novel compounds will be stronger
inhibitors of the variant Mpro than the wild-type (original).
“This analysis and conclusion is a theoretical study, but we are pleased that this analysis
indicates that our compounds should be effective against the Delta variant,” stated Dr. Amit
Kumar, President and CEO of Anixa Biosciences. “While this program is relatively early-stage
in development, we have already received inbound calls from pharmaceutical companies
and funding agencies interested in collaborating at the right time,” continued Dr. Kumar.
Dr. Lutz Weber, President and CEO of MolGenie, stated, “We continue to synthesize several
candidate compounds to identify the most potent drug candidate which we will take into preclinical
drug development.”
About Anixa Biosciences, Inc.
Anixa is a publicly-traded biotechnology company developing a number of programs
addressing cancer and infectious disease. Anixa’s therapeutics portfolio includes a cancer
immunotherapy program which uses a novel type of CAR-T, known as chimeric endocrine
receptor T-cell (CER-T) technology, and a Covid-19 therapeutics program focused on inhibiting
certain viral protein function. The company’s vaccine portfolio includes a vaccine to prevent
breast cancer, and specifically triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), the most deadly form of
the disease, and a vaccine to prevent ovarian cancer. These vaccine technologies focus on
immunizing against specific proteins that have been found to be expressed in certain forms
of cancer. Anixa continually examines emerging technologies in complementary fields for
further development and commercialization.

Rise of Delta Variant
Triggers Return to
Workplace Concerns for
Nearly Half of U.S. Workers
This workforce sentiment research from Eagle
Hill Consulting comes as federal regulators
have granted full approval of the Pfizer-
BioNTech coronavirus vaccine and as many
employers announce delays in back to the
workplace plans due to rising COVID-19 delta
variant cases, hospitalizations and deaths,
largely among the unvaccinated.
New Eagle Hill Consulting Research
Finds 41 Percent of Employees
Support Higher Insurance Rates for
Unvaccinated Workers.
Workers Split on Employer Mandates for
Vaccinations and Vaccine Documentation.
Forty-four percent of working Americans
say that the rise of the COVID-19 delta
variant impacts their willingness to return to
the workplace. Fifty percent of workers say
the variant has increased concerns about
contracting COVID-19. Most workers say the
variant means they will take extra precautions
at work (61 percent) and in their personal life
(64 percent). Employees indicate that they
would feel more comfortable in their workplace
(64 percent) than going to a restaurant (36
percent) during the ongoing pandemic.
When asked about whether unvaccinated
employees should pay higher insurance
rates, a large share of workers (41 percent)
are supportive. Gen Z workers were least
supportive of higher insurance rates (23
percent), while Baby Boomers were most
supportive (45 percent).
The 2021 Eagle Hill Consulting COVID-19
Vaccines and the Workplace Survey measures
employee sentiment about COVID-19
vaccines, returning to the workplace, as well
as testing and safety protocols.
“Approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is a
game changer for employers,” says Melissa
Jezior, Eagle Hill Consulting president and
chief executive officer. “With Food and Drug
Administration licensing, more employers
could mandate worker vaccinations.”
“At the same time, the COVID-19 summer
surge is upending employers return to the
workplace plans,” Jezior said. “A large portion
of the workforce is worried about the delta
variant, and many employers are taking action.
72
They’re delaying going back to the workplace,
announcing vaccine mandates, and keeping
health and safety protocols in place.”
“The key for employers is to remain flexible
and listen to employee views so they are
best positioned to navigate through even
more COVID-19 uncertainty. It’s even more
important for employers to fully understand
what employees want given the acute
labor shortage. Unlike the early days of the
pandemic, workers aren’t afraid to quit their
jobs. Retaining talent means creating a culture
and work environment – virtual or in person –
that is aligned with employee preferences,”
Jezior explained.
Employees are split on actions employer
should take before returning to in-person work,
according to the research.
Employees are evenly split (50/50) as to
whether employers should mandate vaccines
before workers return to the workplace.
Employees are slightly more supportive (58
percent) of employers asking about worker
vaccination status.
Workers are split as to whether employers
should provide proof of vaccination, with
52 percent supporting a documentation
requirement.
60 percent of workers support employers
offering incentives to vaccinated employees.
Nearly two-thirds (63 percent) support
employers instituting precautions for
unvaccinated employees.
Employees are increasingly supportive of
punitive actions for unvaccinated employees,
the polling reveals.
More than half (63 percent) of workers say
non-vaccinated employees should not be
given special allowances to work from home,
up from 55 percent in April.
Close to half of workers (51 percent) say nonvaccinated
employees should not be allowed
to travel for work, up from 44 percent in April.
Nearly half of workers (44 percent) say nonvaccinated
employees should not be permitted
to work in-person with customers, up from 39
percent in April.
Many workers (40 percent) say non-vaccinated
employees should be not allowed to work inperson
with co-workers, up from 35 percent in
April.
About three-fourths of workers (76 percent)
say non-vaccinated employees should be
able to stay with their employer, down from 83
percent in April.
There is broad support for employer COVID-19
testing and safety protocols according to the
survey.
Regarding social distancing, 77 percent
concur that employers should require or
encourage social distancing.
Regarding masks, 73 percent agree on
employers requiring or encouraging mask use.
For temperature checks at the workplace, 67
percent say employers should encourage or
require temperature checks.
When it comes to regular COVID-19 testing for
all employees, 61 percent support employers
requiring or encouraging testing.
