Throughout your degree, AMSA is here to support you at every turn. University is a huge milestone in our lives. It’s the best opportunity to meet people from all<br />

walks of life, form lifelong friendships and discover new hobbies! Despite being one of the<br />

longer degrees, these few years of med school can fly by. Here are a few tips on how to<br />

maximise your time at uni.<br />

One of the greatest things about university is the amount of freedom and diversity of<br />

choices you have in pursuing your interests.<br />

Whilst life in medical school is fun, it’s<br />

also a good idea to give yourself a break<br />

from medicine from time to time.<br />

Signing up for sports and societies is a<br />

great way to meet people outside of<br />

medicine and discover new hobbies.<br />

Many universities have a huge number of<br />

societies for basically any interest you<br />

can think of - food, gaming, scuba diving,<br />

you name it!<br />

Join your<br />

local <strong>Med</strong>soc<br />

Getting involved in your <strong>Med</strong>Soc can behighly<br />

rewarding experience. It’s a great way to meet<br />

people in other years outside of labs and<br />

tutorials. <strong>The</strong>re are also many opportunities to<br />

learn new skills, like project management on a<br />

committee, or indulge in your talents by<br />

performing in <strong>Med</strong>Revue. Many <strong>Med</strong>Socs also<br />

run wellbeing initiatives<br />

or charity drives, which are fantastic ways to<br />

engage with your local community.<br />
