Corner on <strong>March</strong> 27.<br />
Over 100 classiccars are expected to<br />
park up at the Better Half Kitchenand<br />
Bar for the monthly classic gathering.<br />
Just ashort distance away,car<br />
enthusiasts willalso be abletoenjoy a<br />
coveyofclassics, exotic,rare, vintage,<br />
antique cars and motorbikesat<br />
Waimak Classics Cars amuseum that<br />
gleams with makes and models to view,<br />
envy,buy or just enjoy.<br />
Acoupleofcar and motorcycle<br />
clubs, including the Holden Club, are<br />
also expected to turn out, withplenty<br />
of parking available for all.<br />
More than 12 months on from the<br />
firstClassic Car gathering, started by<br />
Amberley car enthusiast Trevor<br />
Stanley Joblin, the eventhas grown,<br />
and become aplace to gather,<br />
socialise, dine and talk all thingscars.<br />
Trevor sayshestarted the gathering<br />
because it didn’t involve alot of input<br />
from him,comparedtohis organising<br />
of classiccar tours.<br />
It was just aplace forpeople to take<br />
theirbeloved vehicle,and the<br />
opportunity for an outing, which are<br />
now few and far between.<br />
The Better Half Cafe and Kitchen<br />
offered agreat meeting place, with<br />
ampleparking, andhospitality to<br />
match.<br />
He saysWaimak Classics opening up<br />
its museum close by is an addedbonus<br />
for car and motorcycle lovers.<br />
Two nearby businessesThe<br />
Barrelman and MagicMoss will also<br />
be open to welcome anyone who wants<br />
to wander afew minutes fromthe cafe<br />
to visit them.<br />
The Barrelman is afamilybusiness<br />
making furniture and homeware from<br />
recycledbarrels, and is sitedinanold<br />
rustic woolshed with an outside<br />
display area.<br />
MagicMoss,which has sphagnum<br />
and decorative moss for gardens, has a<br />
retail shopand production yardon<br />
site.<br />
The businesses, whichare all<br />
accessible off Ashworths Road are<br />
becominga<strong>North</strong> <strong>Canterbury</strong><br />
favourite for people takingatrip out<br />
into the country.<br />
Mr StanleyJoblin saysthe monthly<br />
classic gatherings are gaining<br />
momentum,with asteadyincreasein<br />
the numbers of cars taking part.<br />
At each event avehicleischosen as<br />
the car of the month, with the owner<br />
receiving adining voucher for two,<br />
presented by the proprietor of the<br />
Better Half, HamishMoir.<br />
Waimak Classics, next door,offers a<br />
rare treat for loversofvehicles.<br />
Most of the vehicles, which number<br />
around 50, are for sale, says marketing<br />
manager Sally Lane.<br />
And the museum is easily converted<br />
into an interesting event centre for<br />
weddings, special birthday parties,<br />
and funerals.<br />
Sallysays it is <strong>North</strong> <strong>Canterbury</strong>’s<br />
newest event centre and is an amazing<br />
venuewith kitchenfacilities to match.<br />
The vehiclescan provide atalking<br />
point, aguard of honour,orabride can<br />
arrive at the venue in one.<br />
It can seat 120 guests, and 170<br />
standing.<br />
Sallysays Waimak Classics also<br />
hostsgroupssuch as car clubs,<br />
motorcycleclubs, Rotaryand Lions for<br />
