Charge stations confirmed
Electric vehicle charging stations,
funding for the Oxford Arts Trust and
the OxfordOhoka Community Plan have
been on the agenda at the OxfordOhoka
Community Board’s first two meetings
of the year.
Board members confirmed the details
for the installation of EV fast charging
stations in the Pearson Park car park at
its February meeting.
The dualsocketed 22 kilowatt AC
charging stations can deliver up to
120km of travel per hour of charging,
depending on the vehicle make and
model.
This type of charger is typically
installed at locations where drivers will
be parked for longer durations such as
cafes, libraries, community facilities
and retail areas.
In October last year, the board
signalled its approval for the
installation of one charger, but has now
extended the proposal to three
carparks.
Board chairperson Doug Nicholl says
members are conscious of ensuring the
Covid closes
art gallery
Oxford Gallery has temporarily closed its
doors as Omicron continues to spread.
Gallery staff hope to be back up and
running by Easter, but will review the
opening date closer to the time.
‘‘Closing the gallery doors to the public
will give our volunteer team time to take
care of families and themselves over the
Omicron peak,’’ agallery spokesperson
says.
‘‘We see this ‘pause’ as apositive
opportunity to changeup the gallery and
welcome Katie Hallam, our new parttime
public programmes and
communications coordinator.’’
Behind the scenes, gallery staff are
plotting anew community engagement
plan for more creative connectivity and
activity at Oxford Gallery.
During this time Oxford Gallery and
contents will continue to be warmed by
administration staff, who will be
working.
To stay in touch, follow Oxford Gallery
on Facebook. Donations are gratefully
received to help the gallery get through.
popular Oxford Farmers’ Market will
not be impacted.
‘‘We understand that there is support
from market organisers for EV parking
and charging,’’ he says.
‘‘This project would mean
repurposing three of the 14 available
carparks, however the full car park will
still be exclusively available for use of
the farmers market on Sundays.’’
At this month’s meeting, the board
approved agrant of $500 to the Oxford
Arts Trust from its discretionary grant
fund to go towards the purchase of an
air purifier.
With an air purifier the trust can
continue to host community art classes
at red and orange Covid levels in asafer
environment.
The updated OxfordOhoka
Community Plan 20202022 was also
approved. The plan is reviewed each
year so the board can assess how it is
progressing with its objectives and any
feedback from the community.
The board meets again on Monday,
April 6, at 7pm.
