Seat No. 4 incumbent Commissioner
Joseph McMullen was reelected
unopposed. Both commissioners
commenced their next four-year
terms at the regularly scheduled commission
meeting. More information

Three Oakland police personnel
will be commended for recently
rescuing two residents from a burning
home at 527 W. Gulley Ave.
Lt. Angela Campbell was first
on the scene as flames engulfed
the two-story home. Bystanders informed
her that the residents were
still inside. She saw a woman at the
window trapped as the home filled
with black smoke. Officer Rene
Castro quickly went to the opposite
side of the home with a fire
extinguisher, broke a window and
assisted a female out of the burning
home. Det. Shawn Dozier broke
another window and, along with Lt.
Campbell, physically pulled a male
out of the window to safety. Upon
arrival, Orange County Fire Rescue
Department crews began putting
water on the fire, and the two patients
were transported to Orlando
Health for smoke inhalation.
The three officers were medically
checked on scene and cleared.

impaired adults, recently added
Windermere resident Kathy
Nguyen to its board of directors.
Kathy earned her bachelor’s
and master’s degrees in accounting
from the University of Central
Florida and continues to connect to
her alma mater through recruiting
and other professional development
initiatives. She is a certified public
accountant, licensed in Florida and
California. She also serves as cochair
of the KPMG Asian Pacific
Islander Network and, most recently,
as co-chair of the KPMG Network of
Women for the Orlando, Lakehouse,
Capability and Boost Center offices,
striving to highlight the importance
of diversity, equity and inclusion in
the workplace.

Winter Garden resident and attorney
Jennifer Reed joined the
Orlando office of ShuffieldLowman.
She is an experienced litigation
attorney, focusing her practice in
the areas of intellectual property
and civil litigation. Jennifer works
to help her clients avoid litigation,
which includes serving as a dispute
resolution negotiator. Her trial experience
includes representing clients
in both state and federal courts, including
bench and jury trials and
post-judgment proceedings. Jennifer
received a Rising Star Award from
Super Lawyers 2018-21. She holds
her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude,
from Florida A&M University College
of Law and a Bachelor of Science in
marketing and Bachelor of Arts in
French studies, both cum laude, from
the University of Florida.
