From one of the state’s first breweries to award-winning spots
tucked into almost every neighborhood, you could say craft
beer is “in-grained” in Tempe’s culture. Checking out local
breweries is as much a historic jaunt as it is an ale trail.
Fate Brewing Company
Fate Brewing Company starts out Tempe’s beer scene. Located
in a central Tempe neighborhood, you will enjoy this modern beer
garden and pub. Known for its GABF-winning Candy Bar Milk
Stout, it features other favorite brews like its American Pale Ale,
as well as spirits and a full menu.

Four Peaks Brewing Company
In 1996, the founders of Four Peaks Brewing Co. opened its doors
in a historic building almost as old as the city itself. Today, it is
now one of Arizona’s largest businesses and is known nationally
for award-winning brews like its Kilt Lifter Scottish-style ale and
Sun Bru German-style Kolsch.
Every Saturday, Four Peaks offers tours showcasing its historic
building and beer-making process with samples to sip along the
way. Small fees and reservations are required.

Huss Brewing
Tempe beer pioneers Jeff and Leah Huss of Huss Brewing have
cultivated their 30 years of experience in the beer industry into the
state’s third largest brewery. Find the Huss taproom tucked in an
industrial park in south Tempe, where it serves such brews as its
Scottsdale Blonde Kolsch and the Papago Orange Blossom wheat
ale that embody the Southwest lifestyle. The taproom is open daily.
While there is no kitchen, you may bring your own food.
Pedal Haus Brewery
Restauranteur Julian Wright knows there’s something about bikes and
beers. At Pedal Haus Brewery, he partnered with brewmaster Derek
“Doc” Osborne, to create award-winning styles—like the Mexican
Amber Lager, Biere Blanche Belgian Wheat and Desert Classic Pale
Ale—served in an outdoor beer garden atmosphere.
The Shop Beer Co.
Backyard gatherings and a touch of history mix seamlessly at The
Shop Beer Co. With a taproom that was once the home of former
Tempe mayor Harry Mitchell, the brewery brings in bands and
food trucks to keep the neighborhood feel of its brewery alive.
With popular flagship styles like Church Music lager and F.Y.I.T.M.
IPA, loyal followers know to keep an eye out on the brewery’s
social posts for announcements on small-batch Neonic sours.
