WHY BEIJING? As the Capital of China, Beijing is a natural host for an exhibition like COTTM. COTTM has taken place in Beijing for the last 8 years and is an ideal location to attract the key Chinese buyers. Beijing is home to some of China’s largest outbound tour operators, including CITS (China International Travel Service), CTS (China Travel Service) and CYTS (China Youth Travel Service). Beijing Airport is capable of allowing 50 million passengers per year to travel around the world, complimenting COTTM’s primary purpose. ABOUT THE VENUE: COTTM will take place at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center (NAEC), which is conveniently located in Beijing’s Chaoyang District. The NAEC is located next to a large business community, surrounded by hotels. Transport links include the Beijing subway, which is near the front entrance of the venue. The NAEC’s great location on the Chaoyang District ring road also allows easy access by car and has ample parking. SHOW FEATURES One of the many highlights during the show was the high-calibre seminar programme, for both visitors and exhibitors. Visitors could find out more about exhibitor products and services while exhibitors learned about outbound tourism trends, future challenges, commercial opportunities and government policies. LUXURY TOURISM A panel which included Mr Guo Ming, President of Trip TM Global Theme Travel Club – the leading dedicated high-end / luxury tour operator in China. This seminar was aimed at discussing the demand and typical features of the Chinese outbound high-end/luxury travel market and what kind of suppliers the Chinese outbound tour operators would like to meet. CHINESE SOCIAL MEDIA FORUM Social Media is increasingly important especially for the young, affluent techno-savy Chinese. The seminar looked at evolving travel trends in china as well as exploring the changing situation of Social Media in China, the country with the largest number of internet users and the fastest growing outbound tourism market in the world. It looked at policies and practices in social media use and ways to make destinations more attractive for Chinese visitors. CHINESE TOURISTS WELCOMING AWARDS The year 2012 saw the “CTW Chinese Tourists Welcoming Award” organised for the eighth time by COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute at COTTM. The awards recognise the companies and countries that go the extra mile to accommodate Chinese people and offers excellent products and services that meet their specific requirements when travelling abroad.
