The Black Panther Party, originally named Black<br />
Panther Party for Self-Defense, was founded in 1966<br />
by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale in Oakland,<br />
California. The Black Panther Party’s original purpose<br />
was to patrol African American neighborhoods to<br />
protect residents from acts of police brutality.
