Toy Train <strong>Auction</strong> Lot Descriptions February, 2011 STOUT AUCTIONS 1000 Gilbert Erector 1951 No 10 1/2 Amusement Park Set in OB. The contents of the set are complete and organized correctly. Contents are C9-10 area. Very nice, bright and clean. Metal box is very clean. Some box rub marks on the high spots on the lid. Box however does have slight damage to one corner with a shallow dent and some paint loss. Box is otherwise lower C8. Shipper is sealed on one end, the other end is missing one inner flap and a corner on an outer flap. Shipper is C7 condition. Very clean example of this great set. 1001 Postwar Lionel O gauge No. 2333P and No. 2333T New York Central EMD diesel F3a units with one 2333P OB. Trains have original porthole lens, screened roof vents, and clean battery compartment. Box looks C7. 1002 Gilbert Erector 1946 No. 9 1/2 set in original box. Set is complete and parts are in C8 condition. The lower level insert is a reproduction. The metal box is what makes this set stand out. An amazing blue box with only small paint chips at the lid corners and where the lid clasps sit. Decal is 100% there and the lid is just outstanding. One of if not the nicest metal Erector boxes out there. High C8 on the box. Pictured on page 83 of Greenberg’s Guide to Erector volume II. 1003 Postwar Lionel O gauge No. 364 lumber loader in original box with insert, component envelope with components, C8. Box looks C8. 1004 Gilbert Erector No. 600 1950 cardboard standup amusement park store display in original box. Set includes instructions and is in great condition. The Santa panel is a reproduction. All other parts are clean and bright with the original instructions included. C8 on the display. Original shipping box has some light wear on the edges, and some stains on the front panel, otherwise C7-8. 1005 Postwar Lionel O gauge No. 456 coal ramp set in original box with inserts, 3456 Norfolk and Western operating hopper in original box, controller, posts, bin and door. Ramp looks C7. Hopper shell looks C8, both truck assemblies have some moderate oxidation. 3456 box looks C8. 456 box looks C8-9. 1006 Wow! This is one of those items that as a collector you dream about. Original Gilbert Erector factory die. This die made the round side plates on the (EK) plain drum. Die is in very good condition with a few very light spots of surface rust. C7+. 1007 Prewar Lionel O gauge No. 763E steam locomotive and No. 263W tender with whistle in original boxes. No. 67 whistle controller in OB w/instructions sheet. Both trains are in Gun Metal finish. Loco has slightly bent cab roof corner, C7 area. Boxes look C7+, 67 has inner tape repairs. Tender box is ink stamped GM. 1008 Really neat Gilbert Erector 1930 store display sign. Sign measures 36.75 inches wide and 19 inches tall. Sign is in very nice condition colors are still bright with very little paint loss, and only some light edge wear on the black trim. Pickup is strongly encouraged. 1009 Prewar Lionel O gauge No. 700E locomotive and No. 700W tender original boxes and Form No. 700E-285-4.8X 8-38 instructions sheet. Boxes look C8-9. Boxes are dated 1937. 1010 Gilbert Tubular Toy from the Gilbert Archives. Was built in 1937. This may have been the prototype for a construction toy that did go into production for a short period. There is writing on the lid and a partial tag attached from the factory. Some slight cracking at the base of the tube. C7 condition. 1011 Prewar Lionel O gauge passenger cars, two No. 613 Pullman’s, No. 614 observation car, and No. 615 baggage car. Trains look fantastic C7, very clean and shiny. Boxes have missing inner flaps, couple small corner tears. Bright and clean C7. 1012 1914 Structo Junior Engineer set from the Gilbert archives. This set was used by Gilbert to study the competitors product. Unknown if set is complete. Contents are high C7-8. OB has detached lid and some wear at corners and edges. 1013 Prewar Lionel O gauge No. 766W passenger outfit with remote control whistle, set box. Box has some wear to flap folds and some paper tape repairs/reinforcement to flap folds. Box has brighter label, C7. Connecting ties OB with contents, 1937 instructions book, sixteen curved and four straight sections of 072 track. Set would have consisted of: 763E/263W; 615, 613, 613, 614.
Toy Train <strong>Auction</strong> Lot Descriptions February, 2011 STOUT AUCTIONS 1014 Rare Meccano No. 00A chemistry set from the Gilbert archive. This set was produced by Gilbert. Meccano chemistry sets were never cataloged and no other example has ever surfaced. This very well could be a prototype Contents are complete and in C7 condition. Box has brown tape repair to inner corners and three small tape repairs to lid corners. Otherwise box is very nice with good clean printing. 1015 Prewar Lionel O gauge No. 1407B switcher freight set in original boxes. 1665 steam switcher, 2403B tender w/bell, 2452X Pennsylvania gondola w/three wooden barrels, 2560 operating work crane, 2419 Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western wrecking car. Trains are super looking C7-8. Inner boxes have inserts and some coupler protection rings. Boxes look C8 area. No. 1019, connecting ties in OB, type 1037 40 watts transformer, track, and instructions book included. Set box is C7. 1016 Little Jim chemistry outfit from the Gilbert archive, This set has a hand written date of 1937 on the cover believed to be from the factory and no set number. These sets were never cataloged, so it is believed to be a prototype. The contents of this set range from C8 to C10 with many items never opened. Lid has a few tape repairs inside the edge of the lid and the corners have some light wear. Box looks C7 area. 1017 Prewar Lionel No. 241 E O gauge passenger train set in original boxes with components. Trains are 260E locomotive and 260T tender, two 710 Pullman cars and 712 observation car. Trains look incredible C7-8. 710 boxes have tape repairs, C7. 712 box is C8. Loco box has a little old brown paper tape, otherwise loco and tender box are C8-9. Set box is very clean and bright, nicer C7+. Clean curved and straight track, UTC Lockon, No. 95 controlling rheostat, connecting ties in OB, instructions booklet included. 1018 Little Jim Construction set from the Gilbert archive. No set number on the box therefore it is most likely a prototype for a series of sets that was produced and sold through JCPenney. Set dates from 1935. The contents of the set range from C7 to C8+. Many of the painted parts look unused, while the plated parts show some light rust. Bill says that the Engineero parts box lid is very unique and he has never seen another. Box has a small section missing from side of inner box and lid corners have been repaired with tape. Lid also has some sun fading. AC Gilbert’s written on top of lid. 1019 Postwar Lionel O gauge No. 2111WS freight set in original boxes with components. Trains are 671 locomotive with smoke chamber, 671W tender with whistle, 3469 automatic dumping ore car, 2411 flatcar w/three pipes, 2460 operating work crane, 2420 Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western searchlight wrecking car. Trains look very nice and clean C6-7. Inner train boxes have very light to mild wear, loco box has missing flaps and an end flap from another box. Boxes are clean, bright and solid. RCS with controller in OB, clear plastic smoke pellet container with wire bail, No. 160 bin, cleaning brush. Set box looks C7 area. Instructions booklet, instructions sheets, inspection slips, and other paper included. 1020 Meccano and AC Gilbert Boltless Builder set No. 1 from the Gilbert Archives. Produced in 1937, this set was a prototype for a construction toy that was never produced. All writing on the box lid is factory. This was the smallest set of the three proposed Boltless Builders. Contents are C9-10. Box lid has some tape repairs inside the lid and some light corner wear. Box is C7. 1021 Prewar Lionel O gauge No. 838 W passenger set in original boxes with components. Trains are 229 steam loco, 0-2666W tender with whistle, two 2642 Pullman cars, 2643 observation car. Trains look incredible C7-8, very clean and shiny. Tender box and and the two 2642 boxes are over stamped. Some inner boxes have missing inner flaps. Boxes show very light to light wear. Bright, clean, square, and solid boxes. Set box has older paper tape repairs to top flaps. Very square and solid. RCS in OB w/controller, connecting ties in OB, No. 167 whistle controller in OB w/insert, and instructions booklet. 1022 Meccano and AC Gilbert Boltless Builder set No. 3 from the Gilbert Archives. Produced in 1937, this set was a prototype for a construction toy that was never produced. All writing on the box lid is factory. This was the mid size set of the three proposed Boltless Builders. Contents are C8-9. Some plated parts showing very small spots of flash rust. Box lid has some tape repairs at the lid corners and inside lid. Box is C7+. 1023 Prewar Lionel O gauge passenger car original boxes only. 617 coach w/616T vestibule, 618 observation car w/616T vestibule, and 619 Pullman-baggage. Boxes are all ink stamped with LB. Boxes have repaired flap, some missing inner flaps, some light wear. Please view our photos for the best description of condition.
