Toy Train <strong>Auction</strong> Lot Descriptions<br />

STOUT AUCTIONS<br />

1024 Meccano and AC Gilbert Boltless Builder set No. 5 from the Gilbert Archives. Produced in 1937, this set was a prototype<br />

for a construction toy that was never produced. All writing on the box lid is factory. This was the largest set of the three<br />

proposed Boltless Builders, and the only set to contain an electric motor. Contents are C9-10. Box lid has some chipping of<br />

the faux wood at the corners of the lid and some sun fading to the lower part of the box . Box is C7+.<br />

1025 Prewar Lionel O gauge No. 265E steam locomotive and No. 265WX tender with whistle, original boxes only. Loco box is<br />

ink stamped BL and tender box is ink stamped X BLUE. Tender box is partially missing inner coupler protection flaps, O/<br />

W C6-7. Loco box has insert and looks C8 with a couple small punctures to a front panel.<br />

1026 Another wonderful Gilbert historic item. This is the brass whistle from the Gilbert factory located at One Erector Square in<br />

New Haven. Whistle was made by Powell’s which is stamped in valve casting. Whistle is missing some valve parts. Bell<br />

measures four inches in diameter and is fifteen inches tall. Very neat item!<br />

1027 Postwar Lionel O gauge No. 2145WS freight train outfit. 2411 flatcar w/logs, 2460 operating work crane, and 2357 SP<br />

type caboose. Trains look C7-8. Some train boxes have tape repairs. Boxes are square, clean and solid. RCS in OB w/<br />

controller, connecting ties in OB, SP pellets in OB, instructions booklets and sheets. Set box looks C7-8.<br />

1028 A neat lot of Gilbert Engineering Institute items. Includes are a lapel pin, carded pin back with pin, and diploma of merit<br />

with authentic AC Gilbert signature. These items date from the mid teen’s and are in very nice condition. See photos.<br />

1029 Postwar Lionel O gauge No. 2143WS freight train outfit in original boxes with components. Set is composed of No. 671<br />

loco, No. 2671W tender w/whistle, 2461 transformer car w/one decal, 2460 operating work crane 3459 automatic dumping<br />

ore car, 2420 searchlight wrecking car. Trains look C6-7. Inner boxes show light wear, loco box is missing end flap, etc.<br />

Boxes are clean, bright, square and solid. Set box looks C7. Instructions sheets, instructions booklet, and other paper. SP<br />

bottle w/pellets, wooden smoke tamper, RCS w/controller in OB, connecting ties in OB, No. 206 bag of artificial coal<br />

included.<br />

1030 1927 Gilbert Erector letter signed by Herbert Trisch. Subject is updating of Erector parts cabinet. Letter is framed with<br />

some creases, but no major tears.<br />

1031 Prewar Lionel outfit No. 239E for O gauge track in original boxes. Trains are, 260-E steam loco, 260T tender, 812 dark<br />

green gondola, 813 orange cattle car (OB marked for yellow), 814 yellow boxcar (OB marked for Ivory), 815 light green<br />

oil car, 817 red caboose (OB marked for P. Blue). Trains look much nicer C6-7. Car boxes have tape repairs and missing<br />

flaps. Loco and tender boxes look C8-9. Set box lid has split corners. Box is otherwise clean and solid with bright labels.<br />

Curved and straight track, connecting ties in OB, 3 in One oil bottle with cork lid with paper literature, OTC Lockon and<br />

instructions book included.<br />

1032 Original 1914 Gilbert Erector photos showing the 1914 Erector line. Eight black and white photographs showing various<br />

sets from the top. Shows how the sets were organized. These photographs are an invaluable aid in researching the history<br />

of Erector.<br />

1033 Prewar Lionel O gauge No. 869W freight train outfit with remote control whistle in original boxes. Trains are 225 loco,<br />

2235W whistle tender, two 2652 gondolas, 3651 remote control lumber car, 2757 Pennsylvania caboose. Tender is<br />

missing coupler key. Trains otherwise look C6-7. Two 160 bins, RCS in OB w/controller, connecting ties, straight and<br />

curved track, No. 167 whistle controller, included. Loco box is missing end flaps. Tender box is an over stamp. 3651 is<br />

ink stamped O. Boxes are cleaner, brighter, square and solid. Set box has fantastic looking end label, C7. Set included a<br />

No. 165 magnetic crane in OB w/controller, inserts and the incredibly rare and hard to find 182-22 steel blanks cloth bag<br />

with blanks. Crane looks C7-8, controller needs rewired. Box looks C7-8.<br />

1034 Seven authentic pieces of correspondence between AC Gilbert and Walter Bradley ( An inventor ) regarding Bradly’s<br />

windmill toy. Includes four letters between both parties, two contracts and one card from Bradley stating when he<br />

presented the original idea. One authentic AC Gilbert signature on the letters. Letters are in great condition with normal<br />

mailing folds, one letter does have two very light paperclip rust stains on the paper.
