playingnetball at Allenton School so he<br />

tookthe initiativeand started the firstall<br />

boys netball teamin<strong>Ashburton</strong>.<br />

‘‘I justwanted more boys to play with,’’<br />

Finlaysaid, ‘‘so Igot someofmyfriends<br />

involved, andtheygot someof theirfriends<br />

involvedand that’s how aall boys team<br />

started.’’<br />

Thenetball is six­a­side, the boyshave<br />

seven in theirteam and play all girl teams<br />

on Saturday mornings.<br />

‘‘People always think girls areonlygood<br />

at netball but wewanttoshowboys can be<br />

good at netballtoo,’’hesaid.<br />

Fellowteammate Lachie said he liked<br />

netball because ‘‘youget to move around<br />

and trynew positions.’’ Finlay likes<br />

shooting.<br />
