Light at the End of the Tunnel
was born out of the pandemic
after Covid-19 stymied plans to
produce Starlight Express at College
this year.

theatre arts Peter Rutherford say
all the disruption of the past year
has prompted a quick change of
plans that has resulted in a wonderful
new production.
“The students have been racing
from sports practices and highpressure
games back to the stage
for rehearsals, costume fittings
and make-up tutorials. They have
brought fresh bounce and deft
steps, along with magnificent
voices and fine acting skills.”
Light at the End of the Tunnel
will be held from July 5 to 7 at
the Christ’s College assembly
hall.

Club bowled over by award
MORRISON AVENUE Bowling
Club has been named 2021-2022
club of the year at the recent
Bowls Canterbury annual awards
dinner.
This is the first time the club
has won, although it was a
finalist three years ago.
President Ray Blyth said the
club was very proud of the award,
as it was the result of much hard
work by many members.
Blyth said: “Many hundreds
of hours of volunteer work has
contributed to the club’s success.”
The club had another win at
the awards night with Tom
Hogg named 2021-2022 official
of the year for the second year
running.
Blyth said Hogg has worked
tirelessly for both the club and
Bowls Canterbury over many
years as a club member and
as an umpire, and the club
congratulates Hogg on this
deserved achievement.
He said the club has been on
its Morrison Ave site for over
60 years, and made the decision
several years ago to improve
both the natural greens and its
facilities.
The improvements saw it host
play in both the 2022 Summerset
Nationals and the New Zealand
Blind Lawn Bowling Association
championships.
On the local front, the club has
hosted many events for Bowls
Canterbury, including the very
successful 2021-2022 Champion
