Intensivewinter grazing<br />
SUPPORTING YOUWITH GOOD MANAGEMENT<br />
This July, we’reconducting atrial flyoverin<strong>Canterbury</strong> –the first one<br />
everfor intensivewinter grazing in our region. The trial will giveusan<br />
understanding of current intensivewinter grazing practices and any<br />
areaswherehelp,support or advice might be needed.<br />
The trial will takeplace in the Waimakariri district only, in earlyto<br />
mid-July, weather dependent.Wewill not be filming or taking photos.<br />
What we arelooking for<br />
During the flyovers,Environment <strong>Canterbury</strong><br />
staff will look at current intensivewinter<br />
grazing and good management practices.<br />
Theywill noteanyareaswhereimprovements<br />
areneeded, such as wherewaterways are<br />
being impacted by stock or dirt.<br />
If these or other issues areidentified, we<br />
will getintouchtoofferhelp,support and<br />
education to help meet good management<br />
practice. We’vepartnered with industry<br />
groups to define our approach for the flyover.<br />
Theywill also be availabletosupport you<br />
throughout this process.<br />
We will onlybeobserving current intensive<br />
winter grazing practices, and new legislation<br />
coming intoeffect in November this year is<br />
not part of this trial.<br />
