<strong>GV</strong> ARTS COUNCIL AWARDS<br />

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS<br />

Each year the Greenwood Village Arts and Humanities Council<br />

awards scholarships to graduating seniors attending school in<br />

Arapahoe County, that are pursuing a degree in the arts. This<br />

year the Council awarded three, $5,000 scholarships. The<br />

schools of the award recipients also receive $500 to go toward<br />

their arts program. This year, the Arts Council received 25<br />

applicants. The three winner this year are: Teresa Rosen,<br />

Eaglecrest High School, she will be attending the University of<br />

Oklahoma City pursuing a degree in Theater Design. Madison<br />

Manning, Overland High School, she will be attending Syracuse<br />

University pursuing a degree in Musical Theater. AJ Hudson,<br />

Smoky Hill High School, he will be attending Peabody<br />

University pursuing a degree in Percussion. Pictured with the<br />

recipients are their families and Arts Council members Clare<br />

Langley-Hawthorne and Henry Siegel.<br />

JULY IS NATIONAL PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH<br />

In conjunction with the National Recreation<br />

and Parks Association (NRPA), the Parks,<br />

Trails, and Recreation Department would like<br />

to recognize <strong>July</strong> as National Parks and<br />

Recreation Month. We Rise Up for Parks and<br />

Recreation and all the professionals who build<br />

strong, vibrant and resilient communities<br />

through the power of parks and recreation.<br />

This <strong>July</strong>, we are bringing attention to how<br />

important it is to rise up and support our<br />

field, because every day, park and recreation<br />

professionals rise up for their communities in<br />

service of equity, climate-readiness, and<br />

overall health and well-being.<br />

In celebration of Parks and Recreation Month, we will be offering the<br />

following activities and events.<br />

• Ice Cream Social — <strong>July</strong> 8 at Silo Park, 1 to 2:30 p.m.<br />

• Proclamation — <strong>July</strong> 11<br />

at City Council Meeting.<br />

• Interactive Photo Scavenger<br />

Hunt in the parks throughout<br />

the month. Follow us on social<br />

• Greenwood Village Day —<br />

<strong>July</strong> 30 at Village Greens Park,<br />

4 to 10 p.m.<br />
