GRUSSWORT DES PRÄSIDENTEN VON TENNIS EUROPE

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

2022 European Junior

Championships - 18 and Under

It is my pleasure to welcome you to this special

jubilee edition of the European Junior Championships,

which are being held in the beautiful

surroundings of Klosters for a 25th time.

The Championships are a highlight of the Junior

Tour, and since the first edition in 1976 have seen

participation from many of the legends of European

tennis, with twelve former world #1s featuring

amongst the previous champions of the

tournament.

Indeed, in 1994, the first year that the competition

was held in Klosters, we saw victories for two

future legends of the game, as Martina Hingis

and Carlos Moya lifted the singles trophies.

Tennis Europe is proud of the long-standing

cooperation with the organisers here at Tennis

Klosters. This is a unique and popular stop on

the circuit for players and coaches alike, one that

many players recall fondly years into their professional

careers. I would like to thank the club,

the town of Klosters, and the many generous

local sponsors and volunteers without whom

this event would not be possible. Your support is

greatly appreciated, year after year.

Swiss Tennis has a long history of organising some

of our most prestigious events, and I would like to

express our thanks to them for the continued commitment

to this most treasured of tournaments.

I’d also like to wish the best of luck to all players.

I hope that this event will be a successful, educational

and – most importantly – a fun experience

for you!

Finally, I would like to greet all of those

who come to visit the event. Whether you

are here as a participant, a coach, or as

a supporter of junior tennis, I hope that

you enjoy an unforgettable tournament.
