is to add to the strength of the
group and when selected by
the manager show fans why the
manager brought me to the club.
We have good experience and
some exciting younger players
too, so there is a real good mix
in the squad and I’m optimistic
about what we can achieve at
this level having come close last
time.”
— UTB: In your own words Reda,
what can Blades fans expect
from you this season? What are
your main strengths as a player?
— RK: “I know the manager
has spoken about me carrying
the ball up the pitch, running
at defenders and taking the
opposition on. I just see myself
as a really attack minded player
who wants to get on the ball
and make things happen in the
final third. I like to score goals
and create chances for my
teammates. Last season I felt
I matured by playing games so
hopefully now I can build on that
development further and learn
the game more. In my position it
is about getting into the pockets
of the pitch where defenders
don’t want to be and from there
it enables me and the team to
attack and get into dangerous
areas and then it is about being
clinical in front of goal.”
— UTB: How have your first 10
days or so as a Blade been? A
lot of players who join the club
talk about the dressing room
here, have you found settling
in easy?
— RK: “The lads were welcoming
from the day I turned up for my
medical and to complete the
paperwork, really the whole
club were great with me, and
my representatives, and they
couldn’t do enough to help
ensure I felt comfortable and at
home here. I played briefly in
a behind closed doors training
game on my first day and I trained
hard ahead of the Watford game.
I’m doing all I can to get up to
speed as quickly as possible, but
it will take a bit of time having
not been here for the whole of
pre-season, but I was pleased
to make my debut last Monday
despite the loss and hopefully
with the games coming around
quickly during the rest of August,
I will get a chance to build up my
match minutes. It is never easy
switching clubs pretty close to
the start of the campaign, but
I can’t speak highly enough
about the people at the club from
the management to the players
and the staff behind the scenes,
everyone seems to be optimistic
and confident about the season
ahead and as I know from last
season it is a long road.”
