It was a good start for Alan Shearer who marked his Blackburn debut by scoring twice against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, but Kenny Dalglish’s side couldn’t make it a winning start after a Simon Osborn strike in the 90th minute rescued a point for the home side as the game ended 3-3. Teddy Sheringham had the honour of netting the first live goal on Sky as Nottingham Forest beat Liverpool 1-0 at the City Ground, whilst the first Monday night live game ended 1-1 between QPR and Manchester City. ▲ Forest’s Teddy Sheringham nets the first live TV Premier League goal ANY OTHER BUSINESS? United’s victory over Manchester United also saw the Blades record the top crowd of the opening weekend of the Premier League when 28,070 watched what would eventually prove to be an historic win.
