Low-code platforms are gaining prominence each

day with the advancement in digitization. Gartner

predicts that by 2024, these low code platforms will

account for 65 percent of all application development.

Developers and enterprises are switching to low-code

development platforms for a variety of reasons.

These platforms have significant advantages over traditional

development tools and allow for the rapid production of

rich, enterprise-grade programs. With the increasing

demand for digital solutions, low-code platforms are

gaining traction like never before. The benefits they provide

result in significant cost reductions and assist businesses in

sticking to their budgets.

It is amazing that how low-code development tools can

serve a variety of business domains. Because low-code

platforms are still evolving, there’s a significant chance

you’ll see them improve in the future, offering many

additional advantages over standard development platforms.

journey since inception, the current industry scenario, and

his vision on the future of the company.

Please brief our audience about ClickPaaS, its values,

and how it is positioned as a leading player in the

software development space.

ClickPaaS is a low-code application platform provider

based on domain model designer and is committed to

helping more and more middle and large-sized enterprise

customers, consulting firms, SaaS enterprises build critical

applications and complex core systems in a faster,

easier-to-be-iterated, and lower-cost way.

ClickPaaS empowers partners to rapidly design vertical

industry solutions and to meet business digital demands.

Hence, the race of advancement has already started, and

many companies are leading the way with their innovations.

ClickPaaS is one of the prominent names in that list which

offers updated services around the entire life cycle of

application design, development, deployment, and

maintenance.

In the following interview, Cypress Hu, the Founder of

ClickPaaS shares valuable insights into the company’s

Meanwhile, ClickPaaS built collaboration with United

Nations Industrial Development Organization (Shanghai)

and offered them a commonweal project.

ClickPaaS adopted domain model-driven technology in the

product that is composed of the domain model, data model,

UI/UX, flow management, integration model, business

intelligence, and instance management. In 2021, ClickPaaS

has received a Series B Plus funding led by Sequoia Capital

and co-invested by BAI, SIG, Future Capital, and 5Y

Capital. Also, more than 20 industry prizes were obtained in

last year.

What other solutions does your company offer, and how

are these making an impact on the industry and your

clients?

ClickPaaS has various tier1 clients and offered solutions

and services primarily to public sector, international

logistics, construction, banking, manufacturing, and energy

industries.

Take a customer from the banking industry as an example,

ClickPaaS and our partner PWC developed a risk

management and control system—an internal clients rating

management system—to connect with internal banking

systems, set rating standards, and reduce financing risk.

This system consists mainly of customer master data

management, transaction record management, customer

rating management, rule management, etc., which meets

customized requirements as well as the regulation from the

government and helps realize digital transformation for

banking customers.

Cross-border logistics is also one of our focused industries.

We build an enterprise MSDI digital marketing platform for

our customer and help them establish customer-centered

marketing organizational structure and process, enhance the

collaborative work of all departments, carry out detailed

management of the sales process, realize orderly tracking

and monitoring, and provide a complete set of inquiry and

quotation system.

Share your opinion on how modern technologies have

transformed the low code development solutions niche,

and what more could be expected in the near future?

Microservice, container, cloud-native, and open-source

technology have made low code development solutions

more stable, flexible, agile, and super automatic. And cloud

computing technology has entered the mature stage

providing a solid basic foundation for LCAP development.

Since 5G technology has been deployed in the world, a

large number of new IOT application scenarios will be

blooming. More cutting-edge technology, like AI,

multi-experience, hyper-automation, and data fabric, is

going to be combined with low-code technology as a new

generation composable platform so that low-code

development solutions could offer a better user experience

and realize more complicated scenarios.

As some reports showed, more and more enterprises will

adopt LCAP for their digital transformation in the future

because of its convenience and low cost.

Redefining Excellence

In my opinion, low code development technology is a very

hot topic right now. Since Forrester proposed the concept of

low-code and no-code in 2014, many companies have

entered this niche market. Salesforce, Microsoft, Oracle,

SAP, Mendix, etc. have gained huge success in the global

market, and ClickPaaS also grasped the opportunity starting

from China market.

Although some authoritative reports pointed demands of

purchasing low-code application platforms will

dramatically increase, this market is becoming more

competitive. In the future, low-code technology is probably

integrated with other emerging technologies.

So, I would suggest if entrepreneurs would like to venture

into this space, they should consider their differentiation

compared to other vendors and consider how they can

utilize emerging technology to improve current low-code

productivity. What’s more, remember to be brave, be

responsible, and not be afraid of failure once you decide to

do that!

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges that

knocked at your company’s doors and how did you

pivot from those challenges?

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic changed a lot of things

and many enterprises shut down because of that. As an IT

start-up, ClickPaaS gained more opportunities rather than

challenges, though employees have to work from home for

a period. By switching to online work model, ClickPaaS

team built a global pandemic management system for a

state-owned enterprise with worldwide coverage within one

week helping control the virus infection risk successfully.

By the end of 2021, the system has covered 47 country

offices, 64 overseas projects, and 18,000 staffs. In addition,

ClickPaaS offered an enterprise operation management

system for a Shanghai municipal governmental to have an

economic eagle-eye of those large enterprises registered in

Shanghai. Then the government is able to proactively

provide corresponding supporting solutions and help for

those companies in trouble based on the information

collected in the system. So basically, ClickPaaS opened up

more markets during 2020.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs

aspiring to venture into the low code development

solutions space?

How do you envision scaling ClickPaaS’ operations and

offerings in 2022 and beyond?

From the perspective of industry, we will keep focusing on

our targeted vertical industries, provide more professional

industrial solutions and components for our customers, and

improve the ecosystem with our partners.

We have established a new cooperation with some

companies in the 2021 ClickPaaS ecological conference we

call it ClickDream Conference to enable partner to build

dreams, and we welcome more and more organizations to

join our ecosystem in the future.

We are considering a few emerging technologies to make

breakthroughs, enhance user experience, and satisfy more

customer requirements. In 2021, we made an important

improvement in the underlying technology and published a

platform called Grid Pro which could deal with million

transaction rows with zero latency. A data flow automation

platform was published as well. Next year, a professional

design platform with a new UI/UX called Designer Pro is in

the plan, which enables designers to customize the system

interface. From the perspective of marketing, we aim to

build a complete branding system to raise brand awareness

and image globally. Besides the domestic market, we also

plan to enter overseas markets. Although the

competitiveness is intense, there are still lots of global

demands.

T

o overcome these turbulent times, enterprises must

go live, as fast as possible. Though, earlier, it was

easier said than done. For too long, it seemed that

nothing could be done to transform the customer experience

and employee experience around customer data collection.

That was the trend until came EasySend, founded by the

three financial and tech industry veterans, who experienced

first-hand, the adverse effects of clunky paperwork-based

processes and decided to do something about it. That is how

EasySend was born – a no-code development platform, for

building and optimizing digital customer journeys in

insurance, banking, and financial services.

The company is led by a young thought leader, Mr Tal

Daskal, CEO and Co-Founder. In an interview with

Insights Success, for its ‘Top 10 Low-Code/No-Code’

edition, Mr Daskal shared with us his amazing insights

about the future of no-code digital transformation in

general, and about how EasySend is temerging as a leader,

in particular. Highlights of the interview are given below

for your delight.

Please brief our audience about EasySend, its values,

and how it is positioned as a leading player in the

software development space.

EasySend is a no-code customer experience platform for

building and optimizing digital customer journeys.

As far as the impact is concerned, we raised over $71.5M in

just two years in our series A funding. When you look at

other no-code digital journey platforms out there, available

tools are an inverse reflection of high-code environments:

they either allow customization but at the cost of slow,

expensive, complex implementation (still requiring heavy

IT support), or are simple to implement but solve only one

part of the digital journey, lack flexibility and are difficult to

integrate with other systems.

We have instinctively stumbled upon an unfilled gap in the

market. We stand out with a different take on what's

possible: we offer self-service, end-to-end digital journey

capabilities (from the front-end to the back-end), a simple

way to integrate with any platform, tools, or apps, as well as

sophisticated data management tools in a simple to use

platform, creating a holistic, but user-friendly offering.

The need for flexible, lightweight solutions that business

users can own has never been greater. EasySend is a full,

agile, and low-friction solution, fitting right in the gap

between the "functional, but difficult to implement" and

"simple, but limited" tools at the other end of the spectrum.

Please brief us about the featured person(s) journey in

the industry, and how they have contributed towards

the company's success.

I handle all the operations at EasySend. I have a first-hand

expertise in all aspects related to digital transformation in

insurance and banking. I also passionately advocate for the

paradigm shift towards no-code application development in

the financial sector. During the initial stages of my career

while working at one of the largest insurance companies in

Israel, I noticed the extent of the problem that paperwork

and manual processes create in insurance. To combat this,

along with my Co-Founders, Omer Shirazi and Eran

Shirazi, I incepted EasySend in 2016.

COVID-19 led to a massive shift in the way people interact

with businesses online. EasySend helps enterprises

accelerate their five-year digital transformation plans in

just three months, making it simple for them to offer

exceptional online customer experiences.

Share your opinion on how modern technologies have

transformed the low code development solutions niche,

and what more could be expected in the near future?

The digital journeys market is at a tipping point. Every

department—marketing, sales, service and support, HR, and

call centers —is experiencing exponential growth in the

number of digital customer-facing touchpoints.

At the same time, companies can no longer afford to wait

for months on end, before seeing their digital experience

projects come to life, as is the case with code-driven IT

projects.

But launching digital journeys is only one piece of the

puzzle: maintenance is equally (if not more) challenging,

especially in the age of fast-moving digital interactions. The

sheer amount of digital journeys is quickly snowballing into

an unmanageable mess: enterprises today spend a ridiculous

amount of time and resources on maintaining and updating

digital front-ends.

Analytics is the third essential component. It is not enough

to simply launch digital experiences anymore; businesses

should be able to measure their pulse, identify points of

friction and act accordingly. Only by understanding the

end-to-end customer journeys can you boost revenues,

reduce costs, and make the experience better for everyone

using it.

That is where the emerging no-code digital journey

platforms come into play.

The idea is simple: give nontechnical users tools to create

customer-facing digital journeys via Drag & Drop interface

rather than code, allowing organizations to bring

sophisticated digital experiences to life 100x times faster.

We are talking about shortening the time to market from 6-

12 months to only 3 weeks.

No-code platforms allow businesses to launch, update and

monitor their digital touchpoints easily, without having to

dedicate efforts and resources to coding, maintaining, and

analyzing hundreds (or thousands) of digital journeys.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges faced by

EasySend and how did you pivot from those challenges?

During the COVID19 pandemic, digital capabilities

suddenly became the number one priority. Forward-looking

insurers, who have already invested into developing stateof-the-art

digital customer experiences, are in a relatively

good position.

But what should the less digitally mature organizations do?

According to our research, an average US insurer still

18 | February 2022 www.insightssuccess.com

maintains 91 PDF forms on their website. The so-called

"digital experiences" for many insurance companies amount

to the clunky PDFs, that the customers are required to

download from the insurer's website, fill it in, scan it and

then send it back via email.

As back-office employees are working from home, the

servicing of clunky and manual processes in a timely

manner becomes high but impossible.

Unless you are using a no-code platform.

The time-to-value we could demonstrate is so short that the

expansion we have been seeing was faster than expected.

One of our biggest success stories is the customer who was

able to turn around a 5-year project in just 3 months.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs

aspiring to venture into the low code development

solutions space?

The need for flexible, lightweight solutions that business

users can own has never been greater.

The next couple of years are shaping up to be a gamechanger

for building customer-facing digital experiences.

Today, only 5% use no-code. In 5 years, this number is

predicted to hover over 65%.

As more companies are looking to deploy no-code

platforms to transform the customer experience, there is a

huge potential to grow. As a result, I expect a wave of

funding in this space over the next few years.

One of the lessons learned during this year of accelerated

growth was that focus is key. Going forward, we will

continue to focus on our vision for no-code digital journeys.

How do you envision scaling your company's operations

and offerings in 2022 and beyond?

On November 16, 2021, EasySend announced a $50.5

million Series B funding round led by Oak HC/FT. Existing

investors Vertex IL, Intel Capital, and Hanaco Venture also

participated in the round. The company also secured $5

million in venture debt from Silicon Valley Bank.

The announcement follows a year of accelerated growth --

the company expanded its US revenues by ten-fold. As it

supported digital transformation for leading insurance,

banks, and credit unions such as Cincinnati Insurance, NJM

Insurance Group, PSCU, Sompo, and Petplan. The funding

will accelerate EasySend's growth in the US and other

geographic regions, as well as support expansion into new

verticals and product use cases.

EvoluteIQ

Modern-day technologies like Machine Learning

(ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Low Code or

No Code (LCNC), Cloud Computing, etc., are

rapidly making their marks in various sectors. These

technologies are redefining the way work and process flow

happen in modern businesses.

Nonetheless, in many cases, these technologies are used

separately to achieve automation in numerous

organizations. Due to this, enterprises have to adopt

different packaged automation tools from different

technology vendors. But what if you could use all these

technologies in one place and, by merging them, achieve

hyperautomation?

EvoluteIQ's e.IQ platform has all the advanced

technologies available to use on a single platform to

achieve your organization's hyperautomation goals. It is an

integrated platform that offers combined capabilities of

low-code or no-code, iBPMS, AI, ML, Analytics, IoT, RPA

Integration, OCR, Blockchain, and data processing.

EvoluteIQ's objective is to be the enablement platform of

choice for all hyperautomation programs worldwide. The

company intends to execute this through the simplicity of

e.IQ technology, which can be used by regular nontechnical

citizen users.

In the following interview with Insights Success,

EvoluteIQ's Sameet Gupte (CEO and Co-founder) talked

about the company and its new-age technology solutions

that are redefining organizational automation processes.

Please brief our audience about your company, its

values, and how it is positioned as a leading player in the

software development space.

EvoluteIQ is a Nordea and Confidus Venture Capital backed

technology company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden,

with a presence in the UK, US, and India serving enterprise

customers across the globe. At the cutting edge of

technology, we aim to simplify end-to-end automation and

accelerate its adoption across the enterprise with our

hyperautomation enablement platform - e.IQ.

Unlike other platforms whose solutions are limited to

specific facets of automation at steep costs, our unified

platform allows enterprises to build automated business

applications in a scalable and cost-effective manner. We

want to make end-to-end business transformation through

hyperautomation affordable with faster delivery and break

the barrier of it being a premium solution.

At the core of our organization, we believe in transparency

and growth as a larger ecosystem and want to enable citizen

developers, business technologists, and specialists to

collaborate effectively in driving digital transformation

initiatives.

The LCAP or low-code application platforms trend is only

expected to grow further in 2022. In fact, Gartner estimates

that "by 2024, low-code application development will be

responsible for more than 70% of application development

activity".

I feel that low code and hyperautomation have proven

themselves as a credible and realistic way for organizations

to develop new digital solutions much faster and stay a step

ahead of their competitors without drowning out in

complexities. As this market slowly converts to an

enterprise automation market, the need of the hour will

soon be and is already an end-to-end hyperautomation

platform. And that is what we solve with the e.IQ platform.

Our platform is the only low-code or no-code platform that

has capabilities of frontend development, data processing,

cognitive capabilities, and enterprise connectors – all in the

same consistent drag and drop interface.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges faced by

your company, and how did you pivot from those

challenges?

The pandemic hit us at a point when we had not even

completed a year in operation. It was sudden and

unexpected, as most crises are. After the first couple of

months where we adopted the lockdowns and remote

working, we were able to win multi-year subscriptions with

enterprise customers in 2020 and more than quadruple that

in 2021.

same breadth of capabilities for business process transformation.”

– David Cushman, lead analyst for HFS OneOf ce

“Medtronic in Asia has different ways of reaching out to our customers.

One of them is direct supply to the healthcare providers. There is a lot of

complexity involved in this, like managing the inventory, associated

purchase orders, consumption metrics, etc. The integrated capabilities

for handling work ows, data, dashboards, and web application front-end

enabled us to streamline the overall operations effectively.”

- Ganga S, IT Director, APAC Emerging Markets and Leader

Data Analytics Digital Health COE at Medtronic

We were able to demonstrate the simplicity and accelerated

deployment capability of the e.IQ platform, which enabled

our customers to realize their business KPIs much faster

and at a significantly lower cost. This allowed them to adopt

e.IQ faster and scale new processes on the platform at a

much more rapid pace than they had done before.

Today, the work we are doing at EvoluteIQ is more relevant

than ever in this digital-first world. The technology we

provide is increasingly becoming an integral part of

people's lives, and the way I see it will continue to do so in

the future, too, because hyperautomation will be an integral

part of any enterprise in this post COVID world.

How do you envision scaling your company's operations

and offerings in 2022 and beyond?

The year 2022 is set to be much more exciting and

rewarding for us at EvoluteIQ as we continue to work

together on multiple initiatives to deliver the best

technology. The world is moving towards Enterprise

Automation, and we believe we already have pole position

given the integrated feature-rich platform we have. Our

focus through 2022 and beyond will be to maintain that

leadership and scale our go-to-market efforts.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs

aspiring to venture into the low code development

solutions space?

It is a very crowded and also evolving space with many

Low Code platforms in the market. If you are planning to

venture into this solutions space, then LCAP is just "table

stakes." You will need to do more in terms of technology

features and have a clear differentiator that will demonstrate

business results quickly.

Making well-informed and timely business

decisions is one of the most important factors

for attaining profits. Businesses have become

dependent on the data that is generated by their customers.

Because of the rapidly changing data landscape,

organizations must also keep up with it and adapt to the

current market dynamics in order to stay ahead.

Business decisions need to be frequently updated based on

the present market situation. This is dependent on the data

that is processed by each department, process flows, and

analysis. Automation in businesses has made decisionmaking

easier.

The benefits of introducing automation into the decisionmaking

process are numerous. It helps businesses make

efficient and timely use of data while remaining a customercentric

Elaborate more on the solutions and services that your

company offers, and how are these making an impact on

the industry and your clients.

FlexRule provides the full-scale platform for end-to-end

decision management and automation - FlexRule

Advanced Decision Management Suite. It is a powerful,

unified platform architected for organizations to make

optimized, customer-centric, and situation-aware decisions

by orchestrating, automating, and managing business

decisions using business rules, processes, data, analytics,

and robotics.

business, technology, and operation leaders can quickly

utilize decision-making technologies and make quality

decisions!

With customers ranging from start-ups to large enterprises

to government agencies, FlexRule has delivered gamechanging

business results across many industries such as

finance, lending, banking, accounting services, insurance,

healthcare, energy, and supply chain and logistics.

With our end-to-end decision management and automation

platform, organizations can offer customized financial

products, insurance policies, or health regimens and make

quality decisions for product configuration, credit approval,

patient diagnosis, and many other applications.

Share your opinion on how modern technologies have

transformed the low code development solutions niche,

and what more could be expected in the near future?

Modern technologies made the low-code paradigm a

practical approach to building many types of Line of

Business (LOB) applications; for internal and externalfacing

applications.

As technology becomes more accessible and there is a new

entrant to the low-code app development market every day,

the required investment in building the LOB applications is

reduced significantly today. However, the generic purpose

low-code app builder that can address LOB applications

will not address many typical enterprise challenges,

particularly in regulated environments.

However, as we see in today's disrupted business

landscape, building the apps, whether hard or easy, lowcode

or pro-code, will not take away the day-to-day

decision-making activity from the staff, operations, and

domain experts. Consistency and accuracy of operational

decisions are more concerning and degrading because of

supply-chain challenges, staffing, etc.

Therefore, I do anticipate that decision automation tools

with a low-code approach will soon become a necessity

rather than a good-to-have priority for any organization

dealing with any change, either regulatory requirements or

market dynamic in a comparative landscape.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges faced by

your company, and how did you pivot from those

challenges?

For us, it slowed things down a bit and warranted

transforming the usual way of working. The business-asusual

approach would not have worked perfectly as we

liked, especially in day-to-day operations and team

collaboration.

We improved our day-to-day operations with streamlined

processes and productive systems that cater to customers

and the internal team. We embraced reality and continue to

deal with it (weaknesses, problems, and mistakes).

We improved team collaboration and full visibility of the

planned projects as per the set goals and priorities,

empowering the team with collaboration tools to deliver

value.

WHY

Low-code/No-code

PLATFORMS are the

Most

DISRUPTIVE

Trend

of 2022?

nterprises have been in the midst of a digital

Etransformation process in recent years. The

COVID-19 pandemic dramatically increased the

demand for the complete digitization of business.

Companies nowadays are required to add various

applications and features to their underlying systems

continually to digitally enhance their operations and

customer service.

As we all know, conventional software development

requires time, planning, and understanding of major

programming languages. For this reason, developers have

to start everything from scratch in order to create software

or new upgrades. In addition, complex codes keep citizen

developers from participating in the software development

process.

Considering the various limitations of the traditional

software development process, the IT industry has come up

with a disruptive way of developing enterprise software or

app solutions. It is known as Low-code or No-code

Platforms (LCNC) development.

How Do Low-code/No-code Platforms Work?

Going by the definition, the Low-code concept is a selfdescribing

one. That is to create a software or app solution

with minimal coding addition. The technology industry has

compressed complex programming lines into methods or

objects that can be easily called by simply typing their

names when coding.

Like Low-code, No-code is also self-explanatory. It's a

further extension of the low-code concept. The only factor

is that one can just drag and drop ready-to-compile tools on

to the screen to create software applications.

The Low-code and No-code (LCNC) services are provided

over the cloud-based platforms. That makes the IT industry

a more democratized one where citizen developers with

little or no understanding of coding can participate in the

software/application-development process.

With the dynamic nature of business and the ability of

LCNC technology, companies are rapidly modernizing

themselves in order to have an edge in the consumer

market.

Below are the reasons why low-code or no-code platforms

are becoming the most disruptive trend of 2022.

Digitization Wave

The COVID-19 pandemic fueled the digitization waves

within organizations to the next level. During that time,

businesses had to provide a work-from-home option for

their employees. That led to the need to have various cloudbased

technologies for companies to carry on their

operations. The cloud-based LCNC platforms proved to be

simple and speedy solutions for companies to get their

business going.

Trending Tech

33 | February 2022 www.insightssuccess.com

Several industry studies suggest that the future of

technology development will be majorly concentrated on

availing the LCNC platform-based services for software

development. According to a research survey by Gartner,

"By 2024, low-code application development will be

responsible for more than 65% of application development

activity.”

Services for Reliable Cloud Integration

As businesses are progressing rapidly in their digital

voyage, they will need to add different and new technology

features into their software. With cloud computing-based

LCNC services, companies can integrate as many software

features as they would like in one place to collectively work

on them.

The technology solutions created on these LCNC platforms

can easily be integrated with the existing databases and

processes of the company. One can migrate them

completely to the cloud when needed.

Also, the process of importing and exporting large data files

is easier and can be done in a few steps. Moreover, with an

internet connection, companies can have secure access to

their software anytime and anywhere, 24x7.

Enhanced Interactivity

Low-code or no-code technology has facilitated companies

to have one central system where multiple software or

application services can be seamlessly integrated. Due to

this, the data flow between the internal departments is

processed and proceeded within a matter of seconds after it

is entered. This enables company executives to look into the

status reports on each lead, opportunity, and client with a

few clicks.

Boosting Automation Processes

The automation drive within organizations is at an all-time

high. Credit goes to advanced technologies like Artificial

Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, and

many more.

The LCNC platforms provide the opportunity for

companies to have access to as much of the latest

technology as possible for their client businesses. They

enable them to be more secure, dynamic, and visual. Client

companies can integrate these modern technologies within

their LCNC software or app solution to enhance their

business operations.

Wrapping Up

The capabilities of low-code and no-code platforms are

giving businesses across all sectors a much-needed digital

breakthrough. The digitization wave which got further

acceleration due to COVID, is a sign that we are in the era

of Industrial Revolution 4.0.

For the years 2020 and 2021, it was about discovering and

adapting to these LCNC platforms. Now that the trend is

getting wider recognition from corporate teams, the year

2022 will see a further rise in its acceptance from

worldwide businesses. Overall, the LCNC trend is here to

stay and is enabling companies' digitization processes, a

smooth ride.

- Vishal Golekar

Empowering Citizen Developers

Using low-code or no-code platforms, non-IT professionals

can also start building software systems of their choice. Due

to their familiarity with work and business challenges, they

can instantly start creating a software or application

solution that suits their requirements.

In addition, those with coding and development knowledge

can enhance the abilities of the LCNC software solutions to

make them more valuable. They can also spend more time

strategizing to make the apps more suitable for the

organization's business objective.

Digital transformation has gone to the next level

when computers and smartphone devices are

playing vital role in human life. Daily

organizational workflow got digitized at a fast pace. With

this advancements into the business world, the need of

digital application was rising but the number of developers

were not available to do that work. So, the platforms are

made to create the applications where a company person

can abstract and customized with automated steps as per the

requirements. This made organizations to do their daily

Elaborate more on the solutions and services that

Newgen Software offers, and how are these making an

impact on the industry and your clients?

Enterprises need to manage their processes, content, and

communications – as they develop business applications –

solving for end-to-end customer journeys. Some of these

business applications are simple, ad hoc, and with limited

customer interactions. While there are other business

applications that are mission-critical, complex, contentdriven,

and involve sophisticated, omnichannel customer

interactions. Our cloud based NewgenONE Digital

Transformation Platform with low code capability is for

automating the latter set of business needs. The platform

"unlocks simple" in business operations, making it easier

for all stakeholders to participate, utilize information, make

decisions, and service its customers (internal and external).

The platform has been consistently recognized by leading

industry analysts for its low code, content management, and

customer communication capabilities. NewgenONE

empowers professional IT developers with speed and

agility. It allows enterprises to develop and deploy

customer-facing applications with a consistent user

experience across multiple channels. Furthermore, it

facilitates seamless integration with various back end and

third-party systems and applications.

Anurag, tell us about your journey in the industry, and

how you have contributed towards Newgen Software's

success.

I joined Newgen right after post-graduation in 1999, and

my journey started in the product management group

(PMG), working on workflow and document managementbased

solutions for banks and financial services customers.

As part of PMG, I was intrinsically involved in the

development of the first version of Newgen's low code

product iBPS (erstwhile BPM - OmniFlow) and managed

the initial few implementations of Newgen BPM and ECM

products for BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and

insurance customers for their mission-critical enterprisewide

use cases.

Starting early 2000, I started taking a more extensive and

leading role in delivery and helped implement Newgen

products, especially BPM & ECM, in the banking, financial

services, and insurance verticals. Towards the end of the

decade, I was heading delivery for the US, Caribbean, and

West India.

From 2010 onwards, I was entrusted to lead the products

and solutions division to expand Newgen's footprint and

grow business in North America, South/Central America,

including the Caribbean, LATAM, and Brazil. I helped set

up the products and solutions practice intertwined with

delivery methodologies in Newgen US. Soon, the results

started pouring in with a couple of back-to-back

breakthroughs in the US community banking and credit

union segment.

Towards the end of the last decade, Newgen strategized

GSI (Global System Integrator) partnership-led sales

motion in the US, and I led the initiative. Today I head the

products and solutions division and GSI relations for

Americas and continue to be an active contributor in

product development. I also actively collaborate with

marketing for analyst engagements and more.

Share your opinion on how modern technologies have

transformed the low code development solutions niche,

and what more could be expected in the near future?

Several leading-edge technologies are being stitched into

the low code development suite. However, true digital

transformation is achieved only when these modern

technologies are used in the context of the business,

keeping customers and employees in mind. Here is a classic

example of how a low code platform is being

complemented by new-age technologies to deliver a

seamless customer experience:

Consider a home equity loan solution that is built on a low

code platform. It includes content services, NLP, AI/ML

Cognit, and RPA. And then, it integrates with several

internal and external systems to collate the information and

unify it before presenting it to knowledge workers. These

systems include bureaus for credit report, agencies for

appraisal reports, core banking for customer information, to

name a few. All these technologies work in tandem to

deliver a seamless customer experience.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges faced by

Newgen Software's doors, and how did you pivot from

those challenges?

Like any other business, we too had to respond to the

unprecedented situation quickly. We implemented business

continuity measures and extended our development network

via VPN connectivity, enabling our employees to work

remotely. This helped us maintain our operational

resilience. And we also offered our solutions on the cloud,

which made deployment possible within hours and in line

with the regulatory requirements of every geography.

Having mentioned the challenges, the pandemic also

presented tremendous opportunities for us as it accelerated

the need for digital transformation across industries

globally.

We were able to anticipate the business and the market

changes, and we quickly responded by shifting our

employees and customers to a remote working

environment. There was no business disruption, and the

quality of our services remained top-notch. Our

NewgenONE platform was a great enabler in ensuring that

our customers were able to transition to the new normal of a

digital working environment without any hiccups.

There are two aspects of low code solutions—citizen

developer and professional developer-based solutions.

While citizen developers utilize low code for departmental

and simple to medium complex information processes,

professional developers combine several tools and

technologies to deliver mission-critical and complex

business automation solutions.

For low code enthusiasts, I urge them to look at it from the

perspective of revitalizing the business case for content and

collaborative services, as your business imperatives change

in today's uncertain times.

Keep the business case fresh as priorities continue to

change and the maturity level of low code platforms keep

rising.

Align the business case to the top corporate priorities to

help obviate failure Get executive support – it leads to

sponsorship Show quick wins Set performance metrics

aligned with the corporate priorities you identified, and

decide how to recognize the desired outcomes Address

change management and user adoption issue iteratively. It is

not a one-time project Gather and use data and feedback to

plan for continuous improvement.

How do you envision scaling Newgen Software's

operations and offerings in 2022 and beyond?

NewgenONE, our low code-based digital transformation

platform, continues to enable enterprises globally with rapid

and agile development and deployment of complex

business applications. The platform will continue to inherit

current and future enhancements of its underlying platforms

for content services, process automation, and customer

engagement. In 2022 we will focus on improving the

developer experience, strengthening functionality with

AI/ML and RPA, enhancing the deployment and application

governance experience, improving integration between

Newgen's products and third-party systems, and building a

consistent, new-age UI/UX across all products. To make

our solutions future-proof, we will continue to further

enhance our solutions with new-age technologies like AI,

ML, process analytics, intelligent content services,

contextual automation of business processes, mobility, and

digital sensing.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs

aspiring to venture into the low code development

solutions space?

Streamlining All Aspects of Creating

Activity-centric Mobile and Web Apps

40 | February 2022 www.insightssuccess.com

Top 10 Low-Code/No-Code Development Pla orms

Gone are the days when creating complex apps

required employing multiple developers, spending

huge capital, and then waiting for days. With the

introduction of low-code or no-code platforms, building

applications has become simplified and quicker.

What's more easier and quicker is OneBlink's Low-code

app development Suite (LcS) that enables business users

to create sophisticated applications to support their business

processes without the need for the IT department to get

involved.

OneBlink has been developing mobile apps in Australia for

15 years and has earned the trust of businesses as well as

several state and local government regulatory agencies. It

caters to many industry segments, including Transport &

Logistics, Local/State Government, Construction,

Education, Financial Services, Utilities and Healthcare.

We at Insights Success caught up with Alan Williams, the

CTO, and Darren Besgrove, the CEO of OneBlink, to

learn more about the company and its top-notch offerings.

Below are the highlights of the interview:

Please brief our audience about OneBlink its values, and

how it is positioned as a leading player in the software

development space.

OneBlink is a 15-year veteran of the Australian mobile app

development sector and now enjoys a trusted position

among enterprises and many state and local government

regulatory entities. OneBlink originally began life as

BlinkMobile and evolved from intelligent SMS solutions to

providing rapid mobile development tools for SI's,

developers, and IT teams.

LcS (Low-code Suite) empowers an

organisations' business users to

conduct their own development via

No/Low-code Tools, while also

providing services that increase the

productivity of IT Teams as

they undertake custom development.

The company changed its name to OneBlink 5 years ago

following the evolution of its powerful no/low-code

offering and is now regarded as the leading Australian

owned and operated No/Low-code Development Platform.

Elaborate more on the solutions and services that your

company offers and how are these making an impact on

the industry and your clients?

The OneBlink Low-code Suite (or LCS) increases the

velocity of an organization's digital transformation and

allows them to respond more quickly and reliably to

changing social, health, or legislative demands on their

business processes. OneBlink's low-code platform is unique

in its capability to equally serve the needs of citizen

developers, in-house IT teams, and external SI's, removing

the need for these groups to duplicate or port work to other

toolsets.

Gartner estimates that by 2025, 75% of organizations will

run at least four low-code tools for IT app and citizen

development. The impact that OneBlink is making is that

our customers can reduce or completely remove their need

for other low-code toolsets. The OneBlink combination of

no-code, low-code, and pro-code capabilities in the one

product reduces our customers' subscription costs, the time

and expense of new product evaluations and procurement,

plus reduces their support and training overheads. It also

means different levels of users within organizations can

more effectively collaborate on projects - as business users

can build their V1 solutions and pass them within the same

platform to internal or external IT teams to further enhance

them into mission-critical solutions.

Share your opinion on how modern technologies have

transformed the low code development solutions niche

and what more could be expected soon?

There are many aspects to the no/low-code sector. Some

tools and vendors focus on supporting the needs of

professional developers, while others look more exclusively

at business-level users or citizen developers. OneBlink is

somewhat unique in that we effectively support the differing

needs of both sets of users.

The other distinction is those low-code vendors that act

purely as 'pass through' solutions, i.e., their technology is

designed to interface into existing (often legacy) systems of

record, versus those that provide for data storage as

retrieval, so they can be used to build complete stand-alone

solutions.

41 | February 2022 www.insightssuccess.com

Soon we are seeing the requirement to incorporate AI –

both to further speed up the low-code development

experience but also within apps and workflows themselves

to supersede some of what is done currently with

conditional logic and data/regular expression verifications.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges faced by

your company and how did you pivot from those

challenges?

OneBlink has survived the COVID-19 pandemic relatively

unscathed. Yes, there were problems in terms of rent being

paid on office premises that we couldn't use during

lockdowns. But our development teams were well versed in

working from home as we encouraged this flexibility many

years ago.

We did find it hard to secure new customers during this

period as many were distracted by the disruptions of the

pandemic, but again as a SaaS vendor, our existing

customers dramatically expanded their use of our software

in new and interesting ways, increasing their usage and

their average spend. The pivot now is more about adapting

to a new way of hybrid working that suits our people and

customers.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs

aspiring to venture into the low code development

solutions space?

While some predicted a few years back that the sector

would experience significant consolidation, the number of

new players continues to grow. If you were to venture into

the space now, my advice would be like entering any other

software sector, understand what you're good at, identify

the pain points that people are willing to pay to address, and

find your niche.

How do you envision scaling your company's operations

and offerings in 2022 and beyond?

A key aspect of our strategy to continue scaling is our

recent strategy to partner with other ISVs who don't have

their low code capability and stand to be marginalized as

infrastructure, and we take on the engineering effort to

ensure that their product version is unique, with dedicated

connectors into their products and meaningful

customizations in line with their customer needs.

This model is already operating with a North American ISV

and another global SaaS vendor, and we expect to expand

this service to more partners over the next few years.

A Prominent Name

OneBlink has not sought out awards for its core technology

but instead has focused on the accreditations needed to

cement its position with larger customers and prospects.

This includes OneBlink achieving AWS accreditations and

competencies for MOBILE, GOVERNMENT, recognition

as an AWS Public Sector Partner, and inclusion in the AWS

Marketplace.

Other Awards in the last year recognize the global scaling

initiatives discussed in the question above, with the

company being a finalist in the NSW Premiers Export

Awards and a featured company in the NSW Government

International Trade Statement. OneBlink was also a recent

finalist in The RegTech Association’s 2021 Exporter of the

Year Award.

Beyond many local government agencies, our key reference

customers are NSW Primary Industries, NSW Forestry

Corp, and SafeWork NSW.

What Clients Have to Say?

“OneBlink was a great solution to our requirements, their

support team is well versed in their product and extremely

helpful which made the move to OneBlink a very smooth

process.”

- Benjamin Evans, Greater Shepparton City Council

“The biggest gains are occurring when we carry out audits.

Today, staff can conduct audits more efficiently, so while

we're undertaking more audits and inspections, we're also

able to spend more time with our customers.”

- Debbie Brookfield, NSW Biosecurity and Food Safety.

Under our low-code ISV Partner/White Label program,

these ISVs can offer their customers a mature and robust

platform under their brand at a fraction of the time and cost

it would take to develop themselves (assuming they even

had the capability). Further, we ensure their White Label

Share your opinion on how modern technologies have

transformed the low-code development solutions niche

and what more could be expected in the near future.

“The Future of Coding is No Coding” – The CEO of Github

had rightly mentioned this growing trend when enterprise

application development is leaning favourably at Lowcode/No-code

(LCNC) application development strategy.

To support this Gartner® has predicted that more than 65%

of enterprise application development by 2023 will be on

LCNC development platforms.

• Keep your apps private and locked on eMOBIQ® Stores.

• Applying SSL and data encryption to mobile applications.

eMOBIQ® has been featured for two successive years in

2016 and 2017 as a promising Rapid Mobile Applications

Development Platform (RMAD) in Gartner® Market Index

Guide Report.

Being an enterprise mobile application development

platform, we offer a competitive edge to all ERP partners to

extend their services and the capability of the ERPs they

implement to the end customer with the option to create

their own ISVs and microservice mobile applications.

As part of our ongoing product strategy, eMOBIQ® will be

one of the unique platforms that will enable both full-stack

application development and mobile application development

with no-code.

Elaborate more on the solutions and services that your

company offers and how they impact the industry and

your clients.

As a Global ISV to principal ERP vendors like Microsoft

and Acumatica, we have built standard mobile solutions

integrated to MS D365 BC and Acumatica, respectively,

that can be bought off the shelf and deployed right into the

customer instance.

Mobile app development trends for 2022 have constantly

updated from the optimum usage of Artificial Intelligence

(AI), Wearable Devices, Augmented Reality (AR), and ondemand

apps to designate teams and develop productive

mobile application solutions.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges faced by

your company, and how did you pivot from those

challenges?

In retrospect, the pandemic has created an urgency for

companies to adopt digital transformation with a ‘mobilefirst’

strategy.

Using the No-code mobile application development

platforms enhances the ability of the developer to build

design-thinking mobile apps that enhance the user experience

to a large extent, unlike the Mobile ERP Apps

provided by major ERP vendors, which end up dumping the

entire ERP screens onto a mobile device and confusing the

user, who would rather prefer to see a mobile screen

pertaining to his operations based on his persona.

The mobile application with the offline capabilities

developed with eMOBIQ® for our customers allows the

required data to be downloaded onto the mobile device

when there is internet connectivity and allows the user to

continue to work in an offline mode by referring to all the

data records on the mobile device. Once the Internet

connectivity is restored, the data with all the attachments

and reports is synced back to the backend seamlessly.

In summary, we have used the pandemic as an opportunity

spinner and have ridden the wave with more mobile

projects for us and the development partners.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs

aspiring to venture into the low code development

solutions space?

As a budding entrepreneur, this is the most opportune

moment to use the current trends and growing demands

based on the following advantages:

a. Work Lean – Use existing resources to develop crossplatform

mobile applications

b. Low Learning Curves – Rather than having two different

specialized programming skillsets (Android and iOS) to

develop applications, with a low learning curve

developing Enterprise Mobile Applications will enable

the entrepreneur to build faster and go to market faster.

c. Save Costs on Infra and Maintenance – With the

platform offered as a cloud-based SAAS model, costs

any upgrades on the device operating system (OS) is free

for a lifetime.

The

Emergence of

Low-code/No-code

Technology

These days, technology seamlessly merges with

every sector of the business world. This integration

enables companies to simplify their work

operations and speedily serve their customers. With time,

business requirements upgrade; technology too and have to

level up with the scale.

Today, businesses need to have their own Enterprise

Resource Planning (ERP) software, various applications,

websites, and much more. This means that the necessity for

technology upgrades has become proportionate to the

dynamic market demands that businesses have to provide.

Shortcomings of the Conventional Technology

Development Process

For technology to match up with the space of market

demands, it has to have the ability to speedily create the

solutions. However, going by the traditional coding method,

achieving a fast technological product is next to impossible.

Due to the complexities that are involved in planning and

coding the technology solution, it may take months to

develop a technology product.

Furthermore, even if the developers keep writing lengthy

code to build new tech products, their capabilities are

centered on hovering over the process repeatedly. This

usually results in their exhaustion. In addition, the time lost

cannot be recovered. It is imperative that developers use

their skills to strategize rather than repeat the same

processes every time.

Additionally, one has to be efficient in one or many

programming languages to start developing technology.

Because of this, the average citizen or enthusiast cannot

actively participate in the software or app-making process

unless they are well versed in programming/coding.

The Low-code/No-code Solution

It is known that technology can be a solution to numerous

business problems. As it turns out, it can be a solution to its

own challenges too. Big and small tech companies globally

have found a way to compress the programming process

significantly. The solutions that these companies establish

need less coding knowledge or no coding knowledge at all

for one to begin developing. The platforms that provide

such solutions are known as Low Code or No Code

(LCNC) platforms.

As the tech experts put it, "the Low-code No-code is a

visual and hassle-free approach to software development.

Basically, it creates enterprise-level applications using

visuals and basic skills without proficient programming

knowledge or skills."

The LCNC platforms allow business software or

application development in such a way that one does not

have to follow all the conventional software development

methodologies. Using these modern software development

platforms, one can start creating the technological solution

within a matter of minutes. Also, the software can be

deployed in the shortest time window.

50 | February 2022 www.insightssuccess.com

Programming Made Easy

51 | February 2022 www.insightssuccess.com

Moreover, the LCNC platforms are quickly becoming a

booming trend in technology and business enterprises. As

reported by the research of the KPMG platform, low-code

is the future of application development and automation.

They can easily integrate with the company's existing

information system to allow businesses to create

sophisticated enterprise-class applications by incorporating

complex business logic.

Below are a few but major benefits of the LCNC technology.

Offering Rapid Technology Solutions

Businesses are becoming stronger each day with the help of

technology. So much so that it is now nearly impossible to

imagine a company without technology at its core. But, it is

also true that businesses need to be dynamic these days

based on market sentiments.

In such a scenario, they need to keep innovating new ways

to improve the existing system and simultaneously come up

with new solutions. The LCNC platforms efficiently fulfil

this requirement as they assist businesses by speedily

developing technology. This can be done much faster and

more effortlessly than conventional software development

methods.

An Effective Solution for Automation

A whole lot of organizations worldwide are looking to

introduce automation in their business operations. This will

allow them the opportunity to automate repetitive tasks

efficiently.

With the help of LCNC solutions, companies can build a

whole range of software or other technological features that

can add different repetitive tasks within their purposes. The

speed offered by the LCNC technology can enable an

enterprise to get as many solutions deployed for the

automation process as they would require.

However, for smaller businesses or new startups, time and

money are important resources that cannot be afforded to be

lost. The LCNC technology platforms provide a great deal

of assistance for such organizations. With just a small

budget allocation, they can employ the services of LCNC

platforms and start developing with little or no assistance

needed.

Participation of Citizen Developers

Building software or apps using LCNC technology

platforms has become much easier. Any educated person

with little or no coding knowledge can start developing the

software they need. The technological concepts on these

platforms are made as easy as possible for anyone to grasp.

A person can start the development process by dragging and

dropping the needed buttons, processes, flowcharts, and

many other options to design a business solution.

In addition to this, software developers can spend more

time planning and strategizing in order to develop the best

possible solutions using low-code technology.

The Concluding Words

All things considered, one can say that LCNC is becoming

the next emerging technology trend in the business world.

The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered many businesses to

digitize their businesses rapidly. To accomplish this

objective, instead of relying on lengthy conventional

software development and deployment processes,

businesses are finding LCNC platforms to be the easiest and

most cost-effective solution. Furthermore, it has also given

software developers more time to spend on software

planning processes to come up with the best possible

technology solutions.

- Vishal Golekar

A Cost-effective Solution

Nowadays, the competition within businesses has risen

extensively. Be it a small or big organization, one has to

ensure that it is delivering the best possible products and

services to its customers. For big businesses, it is easier to

rely on the resources available to build technology solutions

that best suit their needs to fulfill internal and external

demands.

Top 10 Low-Code/No-Code Development Pla orms

Nearly every organization in today's time is

constantly facing the requirement to upgrade its

operations based on dynamic market demands and

feedback. Most of these operations are performed using

software applications. The traditional approach of building

apps based on market requirements takes too much time, as

well as it is difficult to make them more agile when the

market changes.

This issue can affect the profit numbers of the organization

and also its ability to face the competition more effectively.

Low-code or no-code cloud-based platforms are making

their marks in the IT industry due to their efficiency in

rapidly adapting to clients' requirements.

Pillir is a low-code or no-code, cloud-based platform that

enables companies to build customized apps 20 times faster

than traditional methods. It leverages the power of SAP's

digital core from any device, with or without connectivity.

It enables organizations at any stage of their SAP journeys

to innovate quickly and easily, with little-to-no

programming requirements, rapidly moving custom

development to the edge.

We interviewed Pillir's CEO and Founder – Vaidya Aiyer,

to get detailed insights about the platform's usefulness for

organizations to become more efficient.

chains. These include functions such as warehouse

management, inventory management, procurement, and

asset management.

This is most valuable for asset-intensive companies that

maintain large warehouses and store and transport inventory

or supplies. That includes companies in industries such as

manufacturing, retail, logistics, automotive, energy, utilities,

mining, and oil and gas.

We particularly work with companies that maintain SAP

environments. On top of the out-of-the-box, tailor-made

applications, we provide our customers with a low-code

platform that enables them to build any business function

they need. We enable companies to 'software-ize' their

unique, competitive business processes in hours or days,

with little-to-no development and maintenance effort. This

is opposed to companies having to adapt their unique

processes to conform to out-of-the-box software

applications from existing ERP solutions, which could

cause them to lose their competitive edge.

The new software-based processes increase efficiency and

give these companies immediate visibility into their unique

operations. Our vision and the value we provide is to allow

companies to modernize their supply chains more quickly,

more easily, with less risk, and for less cost. This way they

can focus on more efficient operations and respond faster to

market needs, allowing them to focus on their core

business.

Pillir offers a suite of applications based on its-award

winning low-code platform that allows companies to

operate better, to conduct business more efficiently, and to

respond faster to market needs by modernizing the software

applications that their employees use to conduct business,

making those applications accessible through the cloud

and/or via mobile devices.

Elaborate more on the solutions and services that your

company offers, and how are these making an impact on

the industry and your clients?

In the current market, these larger enterprise environments

are facing rising costs in their supply chain and a shortage

of IT talent, yet they are looking to modernize and increase

efficiency. Their legacy IT environments address their

unique and differentiated business processes but are often

overly complex.

They have also typically been updated, patched, and

customized over many years, making it difficult for

companies to then convert them to cloud-based versions.

Once moved to the cloud, companies are able to have

greater mobility, and visibility of their data and processes,

especially regarding various supply chain functions like

inventory, logistics, and warehousing.

Pillir provides supply chain solutions built on a cloudnative

low-code/no-code platform. Enterprises can quickly

deploy those pre-built applications and integrate them into

their existing ERP/IT applications environment, as well as

tweak them quickly to accommodate the company's unique

business processes, all without having to write a single line

of code using our low-code/no-code platform. In addition,

we provide a unique capability to automatically transform

their legacy ERP/SAP customizations into cloud-native

applications on our no-code platform.

This enables these companies to retain their unique, custom

business processes and leverage the IP from legacy

applications instead of dumping them and either restarting

or, worse, losing their competitive edge by standardizing

their unique processes. This has also increased efficiency by

allowing them to use any device (desktop, tablet, mobile

phone, or hardened handheld devices) anywhere regardless

of the status of connectivity in their locations, as well as

utilize new and improved processes and mechanisms

(adding scanners, images, or new locations, etc. to their

systems).

Customers gain different business benefits from these new

processes. For instance, we have a customer that alleviates

certain safety hazards in industrial settings, where workers

previously had to physically transport data through busy

warehouses. With their new, modernized applications,

employees no longer have to walk through areas where

heavy equipment such as forklifts are in use in order to

check inventory data.

Operators in the warehouse can now scan, view, and change

that information from their forklifts without having to get

down and walk through the aisles. That not only decreases

safety risks but improves productivity. Another customer

reduced the amount of manual labor involved in materials

management by 30%. Yet another reduced data entry for

field teams by more than 95%. And a fourth client

shortened payroll processing from three days utilizing five

people to two hours utilizing only a single person.

Please brief us about your journey in the industry, and

how you have contributed towards the company's

success.

In terms of my personal journey, I have been devoted

specifically to the custom development of business

applications in SAP environments for a very long time. I

began programming in the early '90s, specializing in

integrations back when that area was first emerging. But my

industry focus was always manufacturing and supply

chains.

Custom development at that time was–and still is today–a

very tedious process, especially when it comes to ERP. It is

expensive and requires many people, who are often hard to

find. I developed Pillir to solve such problems, to expedite

innovation in the world of ERP through the use of a lowcode

platform. When we solved the problem for ourselves,

we realized that many other companies were having the

same issues, and we knew we could address that for other

enterprises.

We, therefore, became a start-up in the rapid application

development market, so we could help organizations build

new applications and innovate their business applications

more quickly and easily using less personnel. That is what

we bring to the table. We reduce the complexity of

innovation in ERP environments.

Share your opinion on how modern technologies have

transformed the low code development solutions niche

and what more could be expected in the near future?

Low-code or rapid application development has been with

us a very long time, although we may not realize it. I can

argue that Microsoft Excel is among the early, successful

pioneers of low code. Technology has come a long way to

automate much of what programmers do in traditional

application development.

Elements like cloud, mobility, big data, machine learning,

and various open-source initiatives have helped drive the

automation of application development towards low-code

and no-code platforms. Low-code and no-code now

encompass complex enterprise application development;

integrations to multiple enterprise applications; and even

56 | February 2022 www.insightssuccess.com

the transformation of legacy applications into modern, nocode-based

applications.

Low-code/no-code is now making a generational leap

forward with what we call "transform-code." For example,

no matter how easy low-code/no-code may be, large

enterprises have tons of legacy applications, making it near

impossible to document all that tribal knowledge. Those

complex legacy applications need to be redeveloped using a

low-code/no-code platform.

A "transform-code"-based platform takes LC/NC one step

further. It decompiles and understands the ins and outs of

legacy applications and transforms them into new, modern

applications through advanced automation, accelerating

modernization.

These powerful platforms will help deliver modern

capabilities on various form factors such as the web, kiosks,

mobile, ruggedized devices, and more, so workers have all

the data and market intelligence of their unique business

right in their pockets.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges faced by

your company's doors, and how did you pivot from

those challenges?

There has been a developer shortage in the market for many

years now. Once the pandemic hit, a labor shortage set in

across-the-board. Companies do not have the people

available to deliver modernized business processes, putting

a dent in digital transformation.

Pillir has stepped in to provide pre-built solutions that

address different business needs like inventory and

warehouse management, including different suites and

application packages that are customized to each business'

unique needs.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs

aspiring to venture into the low code development

solutions space?

Low-code/no-code is to application development what

cloud is to infrastructure. A few years ago, businesses had

to procure and maintain infrastructure in order to conduct

business. Cloud turned that upside-down. Dependence on

infrastructure personnel is gone. Employees simply log in

with a cloud provider and provision the infrastructure they

need in minutes. Similarly, LC/NC platforms are

democratizing and removing the dependency on expensive

application programmers.

Businesses will always have a need for custom business

processes. But soon, just like what happened with cloud

infrastructures, developers will be able to log into their

favorite LC/NC platform, pick a business process,

customize it to their unique needs, integrate it with other

applications in their corporate IT fabric, and deploy within

hours or days.

That also means when the time comes to change or tweak

that business application (e.g., an unforeseen event like the

pandemic), these companies will be able to change their

processes and streamline their operations to address market

conditions faster than ever. My advice to budding

entrepreneurs is to take advantage and ride this wave sooner

rather than later.

How do you envision scaling your company's operations

and offerings in 2022 and beyond?

Pillir has one of the most advanced low-code/no-code

platforms in the industry, especially for ERP-based and

asset-heavy industries. We are taking it a step further by

launching applications on our award-winning low-code/nocode

platform to streamline and modernize supply chains

globally.

This year and beyond, we will launch hundreds of

applications that enable companies to leverage their

competitive, unique business processes by simply picking

these applications and integrating/customizing to their

unique needs without writing a single line of code.

We are starting with the launch of a new suite of

applications for goods movement across sites and

warehouses. This suite will have 16 individuals but

integrated, pre-built applications that address the full range

of functions involved in goods movement in a warehouse

setting, including inventory and warehouse management

tasks.

This makes it easier for customers who are struggling with

the time requirements of innovation or just have a shortage

of talent to learn and implement low-code platforms. We

will be expanding with new suites and products going

forward to address a more comprehensive range of business

tasks that enterprises must undertake in ERP

environments.

Software/Application coding is a complex matter. It

takes significant effort and time to plan and code the

software based on organizational necessities. The

process is difficult for non-IT people to understand. Even

after having the software at your service, it needs to be

flexible to the changing business and market circumstances.

If it is not customizable, it could cause stagnancy in the

organization's business processes.

Today's businesses demand a much faster, real-time,

flexible, and cost-effective software solution. Meeting these

requirements is compulsory for any business to thrive in

today's highly competitive globalized markets. Traditional

software does not provide such a luxury. This is where lowcode

platforms can come in handy.

Vantiq is a low-code software development and

deployment platform that empowers companies to digitize

their businesses. It enables the rapid building of real-time

event-based applications by hiding complexity, enabling

applications to be built that might otherwise be too costly or

risky. Also, Vantiq's applications can be easily evolved as

the business requirements and technologies change

inevitably.

In an interview with Insights Success, Vantiq's Marty

Sprinzen (Co-founder and CEO) discussed the modern

low-code solutions provided by his company to

revolutionize today's business operations.

Below are the excerpts from the interview:

Please brief our audience about your company, its

smart grids, and other digital business solutions.

Built on modern event-driven architecture, the Vantiq

Platform hides the inherent complexity of building realtime

distributed applications through low-code tools that

allow developers to focus on the business logic and not the

underlying software.

Elaborate more on the solutions and services that your

company offers and how are these making an impact on

the industry and your clients?

Enterprise digitization is accelerating at an unprecedented

rate. Organizations are leveraging advanced technologies

like AI, Edge Computing, and IoT to connect the physical

and digital worlds and create "smart environments" to

improve decision making, increase customer satisfaction,

and become more aware of and responsive to what is

happening in and around their business.

Yet developing such real-time hyperconnected solutions is

incredibly challenging. It requires very advanced software

for real-time data processing, event brokering, peer-to-peer

communication, data security, fault tolerance, and many

more requirements to enable this to work at an enterprisegrade

scale.

The traditional, three-tiered, database-centric approach to

software development and deployment is no longer

applicable to this new hyperconnected environment. Vantiq

is a new class of low-code, an agile application

development platform based on a modern, distributed,

event-driven model. It senses, analyzes, and takes

immediate action on the events that are occurring across the

enterprise.

These capabilities are critical in today's digital landscape.

Building, deploying, and operating such systems with realtime

data integration across highly distributed environments

is significantly complex. Many companies have tried, only

to discover after a months-long process that their efforts

were fruitless.

The low-code, agile functionality of the Vantiq platform

helps companies in industries like oil and gas, energy and

utilities, telecommunications, retail, manufacturing, and

others overcome these obstacles and quickly develop

innovative solutions and bring them to market quickly to

deliver real business value.

Share your opinion on how modern technologies have

transformed the low-code development solutions niche

and what more could be expected in the near future?

The low-code movement is real and offers many benefits

when it comes to simplifying application development and

visual programming. However, much of the low-code

movement has been focused on enabling non-technical,

citizen developers to have autonomy and ownership in the

creation of back-of-office solutions such as RPA, BPM, and

workflows.

We believe low-code technology is ready to expand its

footprint in the software industry, where all levels of

technical skills and developer expertise are able to use lowcode

to become more productive and decrease project risk.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on

global economies, what were the challenges faced by

your company, and how did you pivot from those

challenges?

Agility and the ability to pivot when market conditions

change are at our very core as a company because it's at the

core of our technology platform. As a result, we have

weathered the COVID-19 pandemic well.

Our mission is to enable companies to monitor what is

happening across their physical and digital environments

and adapt on the fly when problems arise before they

become bigger problems and cause instrumental damage.

While the pandemic slowed down many digital

transformation initiatives as companies focused on their

core business, it also accelerated the development of

solutions to enable them to ensure the health, safety, and

security of their employees and customers.

What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs

aspiring to venture into the low-code development

solutions space?

In our industry, the more integrated and digitized different

parts of a business become, the companies go beyond being

digitally enabled to being digitally dependent. As that

dependency builds, the harder these systems are to manage,

and the potential for business failure grows.

This means that the speed and agility needed to develop

advanced business systems are rapidly increasing, and thus

low-code tooling is going to be increasingly necessary. The

low-code industry needs to move away from primarily

addressing the non-technical domains in the business to one

in which all parts of the technology landscape are benefited

by low-code.

How do you envision scaling your company's operations

and offerings in 2022 and beyond?

Based on recent sales activity and our current pipeline,

2022 is already proving to be a year of significant growth

for Vantiq. We are scaling the company through two

different go-to-market approaches.

First, we have strategic partnerships with telecom providers

in different geographic regions who use Vantiq to build out

next-generation networks and sell innovative products and

services to their business customers. For example, smart

retail shopping environments, smart buildings, and smart

cities are a few ways telecom companies are extending new

revenue-generating offerings to their customers with Vantiq.

Our second approach is by working with large product

makers, such as heating and air conditioning manufacturers,

large battery suppliers, device manufacturers, and producers

of smart grids (to name a few), whose products can be far

more advanced without significant time or expense by using

Vantiq.

Ultimately, our goal is to enable telecom providers to build

out their networks for cutting-edge services and

applications and enable product companies to quickly build

and deliver next-generation solutions—all of which can

transform companies and industries and improve day-to-day

life for individuals.
