How do I appreciate the here and now?<br />
Where my hand grips my pen,<br />
The roses in my vase bend at the stem,<br />
Analysing verses until they make sense<br />
But not thinking of the end result.<br />
All we ever seem to do is muse.<br />
We spend hours letting our minds wander,<br />
Traveling back to the past and forward to the future<br />
Because past and future are easy to ponder<br />
But present gets lost in translation.<br />
Because if Eleanor was right,<br />
And yesterday is history<br />
And tomorrow is a mystery,<br />
Then can we stand in victory<br />
Saying that we’re living for today?<br />
Time is almost incomprehensible.<br />
The past is a foreign land we hardly recognize.<br />
The future is a blank page being written before our eyes.<br />
