Thousands of people, after waiting in a long line
outside the Palace of Westminster, entered
the room where the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II
is located. In two rows, the visitors walked on
both sides of the altar and paid their respect to
the monarch, in an atmosphere of complete silence.
Air traffic was limited in London during the afternoon
to guarantee silence in the center of
the capital during the transfer of the coffin of
Elizabeth II from Buckingham Palace to the funeral
chapel in Westminster. The limitations affected
some flights between 1:50 p.m. and 3:40
p.m. local time to “guarantee silence during the
procession,” said Heathrow airport, the main
London airfield.
