SDEA NEWSNEW SDEA PRESIDENT ANDVICE PRESIDENTIn the same month that the Cannes Film Festival celebrated its75th anniversary, on the 25th May the Shop & DisplayEquipment Association held its 75th Annual General Meeting.SDEA members logged on to the Virtual AGM and heard all aboutthe hard work that has been undertaken over the past year forSDEA members and the exciting plans in store for the yearahead.During the day’s proceedings Mark Chatterton, ManagingDirector of Morplan was voted as the new President of theAssociation and Rob Hill, Production Director of Graphica Displaywas elected Vice President.The new President opened hisreport in an optimistic frame ofmind at the prospect of being at thehelm of the Association and said:“As I take up the presidency of theSDEA I look forward with a degree ofoptimism as retailers find their feetagain and look forward withconfidence to the years ahead.” Hespoke about the fleetness of foot ofthe Association and its membersability to support retailers who consistently look to re-imaginetheir customer offering, keeping themselves relevant, and aboveall interesting.The President closed his report with a positive sentiment: “I firmlybelieve that this year will be a good one for our industry, and Ilook forward to the SDEA being the voice of our industry in asmany forums as we are able to push it. I don’t think there is abetter time to be a member of the Association, providingreassurance to those retailers who are leading the revival thatthey are dealing with credible partners as we all strive to bounceback from the last two years.” Mark had held the position of VicePresident of the Association for the previous two years.The new Vice President, Rob Hill ofGraphica Display, continued thePresident’s optimism and said: “I amvery happy to accept the position ofVice President and many thanks to PaulSmart for his service as President overwhat has been a very difficult pastcouple of years. We hope to expand themembership base of the SDEA and,along with the new President MarkChatterton, I am really looking forwardto the great return to the high street and prosperity for all ourclients and fellow SDEA Members.”Paul Smart, Business Development Director at arken P-O-PInternational becomes Immediate Past President. In his twoyears as President, Paul was instrumental in advancing theAssociation’s technological services including overseeing theSDEA App and Creative Virtual Showcases.Simon Olley, Managing Director of Stylo, joined the ExecutiveCouncil this year.
