Lakes | Lake Como
If you’re seeking inspiration, then Lake Como is
swathed in creativity.
Soul-stirring and whimsical, this great lake has inspired poets and
artists for centuries, from Leonardo da Vinci to Mark Twain. Today,
it’s a celebrity and jet-setting hotspot, creating a glamorous aura.
Most of the lakefront mansions and towns ooze opulence, where
fashionable boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants collide with
traditional Italian establishments. One minute you are indulging in
high-style retail therapy or sailing in a luxury yacht, the next you’ll be
tucking into a plate of pasta from a local trattoria, or exploring 18th
century palatial villas, including Villa Melzi, Villa Carlotta, and Villa
del Balbianello. The further north you go, the more adventure you
will find and the extensive ferry network means it is easy to visit the
many towns on the lake.
