BKK hooks top design award for Raptor-X
Hook brand BKK has clinched another
Good Design Award Japan for its
Raptor-X lure hook at a ceremony in
Tokyo.
The Raptor-X is a 3X-wire treble hook
whose design is inspired by one of the best
treble hooks BKK ever launched – the
Raptor-Z.
The Raptor series has been designed
with only one objective – to hook strong
and aggressive “monster” fish and keep
them hooked to the very end
Featuring a lighter wire and also being
available in very small sizes from 8 to
3/0, the Raptor-X is also suitable to
arm smaller lures without affecting their
swimming action.
The lightness of the hook structure is
increased using the BKK hand-ground
processing technology, through which the
hook is manually sharpened by removing
material around the point. The hook
gap-shank proportions are maintained to
equip the Raptor-X with excellent holding
power, yet the hook point is slightly
straightened to enhance the hook-up rate.
The Bright-Tin coating of the hook is
designed to maximise its performance in
terms of saltwater corrosion resistance,
making it suitable even for harsh saltwater
environments.
To date, BKK hooks has bagged a
total of five Good Design Award Japan
accolades including Lone Diablo, GT-
Rex, Raptor-Z, Titan Series and now the
Raptor-X.

The Good Design Award has been a
sole comprehensive design evaluation
and commendation system in Japan since
1957. Commonly known together with
the “G Mark”, the symbol of winning
the award, the awards recognise various
industries including consumer goods,
architecture, software, systems and
services.
