Glossary<br />
Nuclear scintigraphy — The production of two-dimensional<br />
images of the distribution of radioactivity in tissues after the<br />
internal administr<strong>at</strong>ion of radionucleotide, the images being<br />
obtained by a scintill<strong>at</strong>ion camera.<br />
Opioids — Any synthetic narcotic th<strong>at</strong> has opi<strong>at</strong>e-like activities<br />
but is not derived from opium. Denoting n<strong>at</strong>urally occurring<br />
peptides, e.g., enkephalins, th<strong>at</strong> exert opi<strong>at</strong>e-like effects by<br />
interacting with opi<strong>at</strong>e receptors of cell membranes.<br />
Orchitis — Inflamm<strong>at</strong>ion of the testis.<br />
Paraphimosis — Retraction of phimotic foreskin, causing a<br />
painful swelling of the glans and the inability to retract the<br />
