ADay in Vienna
Käsespätzle
(Cheesy Delight)
Time for a break:
Start the day well:
Since there will probably be a breakfast
buffet included with a hotel booking,
most visitors will probably have wonderful
coffee and breads provided by their hotel.
But if in fact you want to go out of the
hotel ...
Best picks for breakfast –
Café Museum
www.cafemuseum.at/en/cafe-museum
Haas and Haas Tea House, which is
hidden behind the Stephansdom
www.haas-haas.at/pages/teehaus
After breakfast –
Start your sightseeing by taking the
Ring Tram, www.visitingvienna.com/
transport/vienna-ring-tram. From
Schwedenplatz, the route takes you
around Vienna's ring, past the Hofburg,
the newly renovated parliament
building. Check out the city hall and
the Urania building. Each of these can
be viewed from the tram and you get a
great overview of the different sights in
the city.
Viennese
Apfelstrudel
When it is time for lunch you
need to decide what you prefer
to eat, and whether you want a
view and/or a traditional menu.
For the best garden cafe go to –
Café Diglas at Schottenstift
www.cafeimschottenstift.at
Sit outdoors year round –
Café Museum, www.cafemuseum.at/en/cafemuseum,
at Karlsplatz across from Resselpark.
Café Landtman, www.landtmann.at/
en/cafe-landtmann, is also a great stop
for lunch and across from the University
at Universitatsring.
For the best view go to –
Haus des Meers, www.visitingvienna.
com/sights/hausdesmeeres, the
rooftop restaurant. The view is
fantastic, and the food is good.
This is one of six flak towers built
in Vienna, which housed the
defense against Allied forces.
Each tower had 3.5-meter-thick walls
so they were not simple to demolish. The tower
at Esterhazy park has been transformed into
an aquarium.
Additionally for lunch you could go to
Momoya, www.momoya.at
Kitcha and Sticks,
www.kitcha.at, if you are in the
mood for Asian food.
