The month of January is named after the Roman god Janus - the god of doorways, gates and transitions, and of beginnings and endings, having two faces looking in opposite directions. I think it’s nice to reflect on this origin when it’s time to take stock of the year we’ve had, and to look forward to the one we are about to embark on. Reflection, importantly, that is kind to ourselves, not judgemental, and that helps us to forge our path with a positive step forward. Whatever your goals are for this coming year, I hope the are happily in view. We’ve done away with the usual ‘new year, new you’ narrative in this edition, because let’s face it, who needs more of that! Instead, we’ve looked at little pick-me-ups to break through the winter gloom and some really helpful tips if you’re embarking on bigger home projects this year. January also heralds the Chinese New Year, and this year it is that of the Rabbit - a gentle yin sign, sure to shake up how we’ve been feeling. We’ve got a little guide to help you celebrate. We are also looking at getting our financial ducks in a row - notably for planning for retirement - it is literally never too early to start building that pension pot, and never too late to keep adding to it, so we have some tips to help you there too.
