BARKALOW<br />
Rose Mary (Cordonnier) Barkalow, 94, a<br />
resident of London, Ohio, passed away from<br />
this earthly existence on Jan. 24, <strong>2023</strong>, and<br />
now sits in our Lord’s house. Rose Mary<br />
(Cordonnier) was born on July 1, 1928, in<br />
Dayton, Ohio.<br />
She was preceded in death by her husband,<br />
James E. Barkalow, and one son,<br />
Timothy. Rose Mary is survived by her eight<br />
children, Sue, Larry, Nancy, Terry, Cheryl,<br />
Jim, Sandra, and Dan, as well as numerous<br />
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and<br />
great-great-grandchildren.<br />
The family wishes everyone to know that<br />
Rose Mary was a deeply loving and caring<br />
matriarch of the family. She loved the Lord<br />
Jesus immensely and served many years<br />
helping with St. Vincent’s DePaul and other<br />
Catholic charities. Rose Mary leaves behind<br />
a deep and rich legacy to her family and<br />
friends, full of wisdom, love, and laughter.<br />
We honor her passing with celebration as<br />
she is now in our Lord’s home, and we look<br />
forward to the day when we can join our<br />
loved ones around the Lord’s table.<br />
A memorial service will be held at St.<br />
Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho,<br />
N.M. The family will gather for a Mass of<br />
Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Feb. 4 in St.<br />
Patrick Catholic Church, 61 S. Union St.,<br />
London, with Father Patrick Toner officiating.<br />
Interment will immediately follow in<br />
Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Ohio, where<br />
she will be interred next to her husband of<br />
56 years.<br />

CHESTNUT<br />
Joseph “Joe” Henry Chestnut, 96, of<br />
Sedalia, Ohio, died on Jan. 24, <strong>2023</strong>, in<br />
Grove City, surrounded by his loving family.<br />
Born on Jan. 27, 1926, in Lucasville, he was<br />
a son of Daniel Chestnut and Lexia Pearl<br />
(Newman) Crabtree.<br />
Joe was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in<br />
both World War II and the Korean War.<br />
After his time in the service, he went on to<br />
work as a radio announcer. He had a wonderful<br />
sense of humor and always enjoyed<br />
telling jokes. He then worked for the Dial<br />
Corporation where he later retired from. Joe<br />
was a man of strong faith and was a long<br />
time member of Sedalia Church of Christ in<br />
Christian Union. He was also a member of<br />
VFW Post 11208 in Harrisburg. Joe was<br />
able to participate in Honor Flight, and he<br />
enjoyed spending time with his military<br />
comrades. In his spare time, he also enjoyed<br />
playing guitar, gardening, and especially<br />
tending to his fruit trees which were shared<br />
with his neighbors.<br />
He leaves behind: his son, Mark Edward<br />
(Bethany) Chestnut of Grove City; grandsons,<br />
Mark A. Chestnut and Scott B. (Carolyne)<br />
Chestnut, both of Grove City;<br />
great-grandchildren, Luke, Gracelyn, Clayton,<br />
Ava; siblings, Gladys Loraine Storts,<br />
Ruth Shirk, Elza “Max” (Cynthia) Crabtree;<br />
many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law,<br />
Jennie McNeal and Lyvonia Boggs; numerous<br />
friends, neighbors, and military brothers.<br />
Joe was preceded in death by his parents<br />
and his beloved wife of 50 years, Lydia<br />
Marie (Amos) Chestnut.<br />
A funeral service was held on Jan. 30 at<br />
Sedalia Church of Christ in Christian Union<br />
with Rev. Gordon Ell officiating. Interment<br />
followed in Range Township Cemetery. The<br />
family received friends at the church prior<br />
to the service.<br />

CORBIN<br />
Lakeynn La’Shay Jean Corbin, 2 months<br />
old, died on Jan. 25, <strong>2023</strong>, in Nationwide<br />
Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Born<br />
on Nov. 17, 2022, in Westerville, Ohio, she<br />
was a daughter of Malik and Lacey (Barker)<br />
Corbin.<br />
Lakeynn is survived by: her parents;<br />
brothers, Jaylin, Josiah, and Lyric Corbin;<br />
paternal grandmother, Billie Sheely (Brad<br />
Pitts); paternal grandfather, Virgil Corbin;<br />
maternal grandfather, Ron Barker, and<br />
grandmother, Avis Biehl; maternal greatgrandfather,<br />
Mike Peterman; special aunts<br />
and godmother, Amber Allen and Ashley<br />
Stuthard; aunts and uncles, Jessie Peterman,<br />
Shanice Sheely, Tiffany Sheely, Kierra<br />
Corbin, Tajah Corbin, Chantrel Corbin, Legend<br />
Corbin, Rob Peterman; and numerous<br />
cousins.<br />
She was preceded in death by: her maternal<br />
grandparents, Donielle and Josh Kimbler;<br />
maternal great-grandmother, Linda<br />
Peterman; and aunts, Lisa Stuthard, Denise<br />
Peterman, and Cierra Sheely.<br />
Visitation and a funeral service were<br />
held on Feb. 3 in Eberle-Fisher Funeral<br />
Home and Crematory, London, with Pastor<br />
Tyrone Artis officiating. Interment followed<br />
in Paint Memorial Cemetery.<br />

WARD<br />
Glenn Ward, 89, of London, Ohio, died on<br />
Jan. 25, <strong>2023</strong>, in London Health and Rehabilitation.<br />
Born on July 18, 1933, in Boons<br />
Camp, Ky., he was a son of Willie and Ethel<br />
(Bradley) Ward.<br />
After graduating high school, Glenn went<br />
on to study at the University of Kentucky.<br />
He then served in the U.S. Army during the<br />
Korean War. After his time in the service,<br />
Glenn worked for General Motors where he<br />
retired as a supervisor after 32 years. He<br />
was a man of God and attended Hocking<br />
Hills Church of Christ. Glenn enjoyed<br />
watching sports, particularly the Alabama<br />
Crimson Tide play football and Kentucky<br />
Wildcats basketball. He also was an avid<br />
deer and turkey hunter and a skilled fisherman.<br />
Thanksgiving will definitely not be the<br />
same without his wild turkey contributions,<br />
along with countless other memories we will<br />
cherish.<br />
Glenn leaves behind: his beloved wife of<br />
44 years, Nancy (Weaver) Ward; children,<br />
Ron (Darlene) Ward, Steve (April) Sparks,<br />
Stephanie (Neil) Clarridge, Ruric (Trisha)<br />
Sparks; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren<br />
plus one on the way; many nieces,<br />
nephews, and cousins.<br />
He was preceded in death by: his parents;<br />
grandson, Gabriel O. Ward; and siblings,<br />
Herman Ward, Eulah Meeks, and<br />
Irene Wellman.<br />
The family wishes to express their gratitude<br />
to Jessie Ernst for her special care<br />
given to Glenn.<br />
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held<br />
in the spring.<br />

DOGGETT<br />
Sherry A. Doggett, 66, of London, Ohio,<br />
went to be with her heavenly father on Jan.<br />
29, <strong>2023</strong>, in her residence surrounded by<br />
her loving family. Sherry was born on Aug.<br />
9, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of<br />
Samuel Stires and Bonnie (Boughn) Bowen.<br />
Sherry was a 1974 graduate of London<br />
High School, marrying her high school<br />
sweetheart, Dan Gordon Doggett, in 1973.<br />
She was a member of Church of Christ in<br />
Christian Union where she loved singing.<br />
Sherry is remembered as a strong, Christian<br />
woman who always prioritized her<br />
faith. She was selfless, charitable, and always<br />
put others before herself, especially<br />
her family whom she loved unconditionally.<br />
She was known far and wide for her amazing<br />
baking and cooking. Sherry retired from<br />
London Public Library and Loving Care<br />
Hospice.<br />
She is survived by: her mother, Bonnie<br />
Bowen; children, Darlene West, Cynthia<br />
(Jeff) Tremayne, and Dan (Christina)<br />
Doggett; siblings, Kathy (Tom) Doggett,<br />
Sam (Sharon) Stires, Jane (Don) Rumpff,<br />
Chris (Sarah) Stires, Karen Kimbler, Trevor<br />
(Penny) Stires, Pam Karow, Jim Bowen,<br />
and Kevin Bowen; grandchildren, Jeffery<br />
(Kelly) Doggett, Michelle Compston,<br />
Nathaniel (Alle) Compston, Olivia Rafferty,<br />
Emmelia Rafferty, Madalyn Doggett, Avery<br />

Callie Compston.<br />

followed at Paint Township Cemetery,<br />

Karen Medors, 70, of Springfield, Ohio,<br />
died on Jan. 30, <strong>2023</strong>, at the Allen View<br />
Health Care Center, Springfield.<br />
She was born on July 5, 1952, in Columbus,<br />
Ohio, a daughter of Denver and June<br />
(Ames) Meadows. Karen loved Mickey<br />
Mouse, frogs, and Jeff Gordon. She always<br />
had a Coke and a Snickers bar.<br />
She is survived by: her daughter, Kimberly<br />
White; sister, Esther (Larry) Wiseman<br />
of London; brother, Ed (Sharon) Medors of<br />
South Vienna; grandchildren, Karly Cunningham,<br />
Jayda Cunningham, Jurney<br />
Gandy, Leilyn Larkins, Nova Larkins, and<br />
Mickee White; one nephew, three nieces,<br />
great-nieces, and great-nephews.<br />
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.<br />
