Community Fundraising and Partnership Efforts
Actions taken:
The LAFAC contacted other community fundraising groups
(Duck Derby, Lumsden Lions, rink board, etc.) to see if there is
interest in combining fundraising efforts so that money could
go to multiple sport and recreation initiatives.
The LAFAC developed a survey to poll Lumsden elementary families (more than 550 people) about their
use of pools, swimming lessons and general interest in an aquatic centre.
Other suggested ideas:
● Work with Prairie Valley School Division to develop a school-led swimming and water safety
program
● Online 50/50, using local partner Echo Lotto;
● Legacy donations (from estates);
● Fundraising efforts in surrounding R.M.s that will use the pool; and
● Farmland donation: volunteers harvest and donate profits to initiative.
