To further our research into Covid-19's impact on our school community,
we decided to interview a teacher.
During Covid, did you keep in
contact with other teachers?
"We had many social events, such as
online board games, meet-ups and quiz
nights. Little meetings like that helped to
keep spirits up."
What was the most challenging part
of teaching online school?
"We were never taught how to teach
online and resolve technical issues, as
well as how to manage student behaviour
without physically being there. However,
we managed to get past that once we
became more familiar with working
online."
How do you think online learning
affected students' mental health?
"It was stressful as a teacher because you
couldn't tell when your students were
struggling. "
Do you think students learn as well
online as in a classroom?
"A range of students found it helpful, and
others found it difficult. I believe DCIS has
taught students to be passionate about
learning and I'm positive most of the
students here learnt a good deal, even
during those difficult times."
