PREPARATORY SCHOOL
Overview
Dover Court Preparatory
School was founded in 1972
by Ernest E Alliot on the site
of the former British military
barracks on Dover Road,
Singapore. The school was
founded with the vision to
provide education for
children under the age of 13,
at a time when schools for
this age group were in short
supply. Originally consisting
of very few buildings, the
majority of which were preexisting
military dormitories,
the school housed both day
and boarding students,
teaching infant classes and
holding assemblies, as well as
celebratory days and trips.
In its early years, the school was the first of
its kind to accommodate both day and
boarding students, the majority of whom
were from neighbouring countries.
Boarders took part in a diverse range of
activities including school trips, and
sporting events, however, the boarding
component of the school was discontinued
in the 1990s.
