Overheard at the coffee shop
Southey RCMP seeks
public assistance to locate
missing man
For his well-being, Southey RCMP is seeking
the public’s assistance to help locate 35-yearold
Joel Campbell of Standing Buffalo First
Nation.
-BY, Media Release April 11, 2023
Joel has not been in contact
with family since the evening
of Wednesday, April 5, when he
advised he was in the Southey
area. It is uncommon for him to
be out of contact with family for
so long.
Joel is described as being 5’
8” tall, 170 pounds, with dark
brown hair and brown eyes. It
is unknown what he was last
wearing.
Joel also has connections to Fort
Qu’Appelle, but it is unknown if
he is in the community.
Joel is wanted for being unlawfully
at large, but the purpose
of this news release is to locate
him and confirm his well-being,
particularly given he has not
been seen/spoken to for several
days. We ask the public not to
approach him and contact the
police if you see him or know of
his whereabouts.
Police have been in contact
with the individual who provided
Joel with a ride on April
5, 2023. He was last seen near
the intersection of Highway
#22 and Highway #6 on April 5
around 7:30 p.m., walking eastbound
on Highway #22. We now
know he was last seen wearing a
grey hooded sweater, toque and
sweatpants. Joel has not been
located and is still considered
missing.
Southey RCMP have received
new information via video surveillance
from a local business
which depicts a male, matching
the description of Joel Campbell,
who may have been seen
walking south on Highway 6
south of Southey, SK, toward
Regina, on April 5th, 2023.
At approximately 7:20 p.m., a
black Dodge Charger was seen
stopping next to the male, who
then appeared to enter the vehicle
before continuing to travel
south. They looking for any information
from the public who
may have seen this interaction
to report it to Southey RCMP by
calling 306-726-5230 or their
local police service.
Southey RCMP are also looking
to speak to the driver or the
occupants of the black Dodge
Charger for information on
Joel’s whereabouts.
If anyone has information on
the whereabouts of Joel, please
contact Southey RCMP at 306-
726-5230, 911 or 310-RCMP.
Funny things
Reading the other day that
the governor-general, our
regal representative to the
nation, flew to Germany on an
apparently official function.
-BY PETER FOSTER, Craven
April 13, 2023
Now I read yesterday that 24 Sussex Drive
is full of rats, insert liberal joke here, broken
pipes, leaky roofs, and in general is a health
hazard for anyone to consider living there.
Renovations to the crumbling old girl, insert
gender joke here, which involve stripping the
building down to the bare walls, replumbing
and rewiring the structure, come to somewhere
around 26 million dollars.
Now, could you possibly think of a better use
for 700 thousand dollars other than sipping
on 100$ glasses of orange juice and munching
on foie gras at 30 thousand feet? Well, if
you are unable to, I can! Now that is such an
obscene waste of money it is not even funny.
Reading here this morning, the Calgary
police have instituted a novel policy of clearly
marking traffic enforcement vehicles with
high visibility banners when they set up photo
radar locations.
Initial results have been interesting, to say the
least. A 68% decrease in traffic violations as a
result of the clearly visible enforcement vehicles.
However, now we have a situation where
municipalities are suffering a lack of funding
in their budgets because of the reduction of
convictions. Yet, in almost the same breath,
reassure the public that they were never used
as cash cows!
One wonders as to the accuracy of that statement.
Funny thing, I always thought that
the inception of photo radar was, first and
foremost, a safety issue never to be used as a
retroactively punishing revenue producer.
To that statement, I can only reply. You B.S.
your friends, and I will B.S. mine, but let us
not bother B.Sing each other!
Her and 32 others. Friends, family, photographers,
security, hotel rooms, food, booze, and
transportation all came to a grand total to the
taxpayer of a little over 700 thousand dollars.
The 35-dollar wreath she laid is part of that
