LETTERS
‘Hold ‘em until he rots’
BEHIND BARS: Peter Joseph
Holdem was jailed in 1987
after he abducted and
murdered Louisa Damodran.
Child sex offender and
the killer of 6-year-old
Louisa Damordran in
1986, Peter Joseph
Holdem, has been
denied parole. Readers
react to the article in
last week’s Star
Should P J Holdem ever be
released? In my opinion, it’s
his surname, hold ‘em until
he rots.
It is beyond the most vile
act he is in for and should be
given a bullet quite frankly.
He is not human, he is
not worth the taxpayers’
money, hold ‘em forever and
ever until he goes to where he
belongs, hell.
– Jaynie Abbott
No, never release him as he
will re-offend.
– Denise Donnelly
I completely endorse retired
police inspector Mal Griebel’s
comments and feelings about
Holdem.
My home town is in
North Canterbury and I
still cannot drive over the
Waimakariri bridge without
thinking about that darling
wee girl and what she must
have gone through.
TRAGIC: Louisa
Damordran was just
a few days shy of her
seventh birthday when
she was kidnapped as
she walked home from
school in October 1986.
Health system
waiting list
The state of our once
great health system is heartbreaking
with operations
and all kinds of treatments
being postponed due to staff
shortages. My heart goes out
to all those who can’t get on
with life due to this issue,
and prey that I keep my own
health and do not have to
rely on the health system for
treatment of any kind.
We can no longer entice
skilled health workers here as
other countries have more to
offer in lifestyle and wages.
Curiously, we still have
thousands of fully-trained,
experienced nurses and
doctors not allowed to
work because of outdated
mandates. Why?
Until recently, we’ve always
had the choice to have a
second medical opinion.
Science is full of differing
opinions, and it is through
the wrestle of ideas we
progress.
Three years ago these
people were valued for their
knowledge, experience and
care – that hasn’t changed.
We need them back.
