Big names return, Bower’s season ends<br />
THE CRUSADERS have<br />
announced the return of three<br />
key All Blacks for their clash<br />
against the Rebels tomorrow<br />
night.<br />
Scott Barrett is back as<br />
captain after two weeks off,<br />
while Sam Whitelock returns to<br />
the Crusaders starting line-up<br />
following his hand injury in<br />
round 3. Cullen Grace is also<br />
back in the playing 23, fully<br />
recovered from a shoulder injury<br />
and set to play his first game of<br />
the season.<br />

It’s positive news for the 11-<br />
time Super Rugby champions<br />
following George Bower’s injury<br />
blow announced yesterday.<br />
<strong>The</strong> 22-test All Blacks prop has<br />
undergone ACL reconstruction<br />
surgery for an injury suffered<br />
against the Reds last month.<br />
Coach Scott Robertson<br />
confirmed Bower will miss the<br />
remainder of the season.<br />
Crusaders wing and All Blacks<br />
teammate Sevu Reece suffered a<br />
similar fate earlier this season.<br />
“He had an ACL<br />
round nine<br />
reconstruction. He’s mending<br />
well,” Robertson said.<br />
“Both he and Sevu will have<br />
to get on the rehab journey back<br />
here.”<br />
Bower was a crucial part of<br />
the All Blacks squad last season,<br />
making 11 test appearances, the<br />
majority of them off the bench.<br />
He is the third Crusaders All<br />
Black ruled out with an injury<br />
this season, along with Reece<br />
(knee) and Fletcher Newell<br />
(foot).<br />
Mitchell Dunshea (chest) and<br />
George Bell (ankle) are also<br />
out for the remainder of the<br />
Crusaders’ season.<br />
<strong>The</strong> team returns to<br />
Melbourne for the second time<br />
this season following round<br />
two’s super round, to take on the<br />
Rebels at AAMI Park.<br />
<strong>The</strong> fourth-placed Crusaders<br />
will be after a comfortable win<br />
before they taken on the highflying<br />
Chiefs in Hamilton next<br />
week.<br />
