Time for a change
deficient in B12
Emerging research has shown that as
many as fifty percent of older adults and
as many as twenty-five percent of younger
adults are deficient in vitamin B12.
Scientists at Rush University medical centre
found those most deficient in vitamin B12
to have the smallest brain mass and the
lowest scores on tests measuring shortterm
memory, concentration and brain
performance. Another study showed
that older people with higher levels of
B12 in their blood have larger, healthier
brains and score higher on cognitive tests
than those with lower levels. Yet another
recent landmark study showed that B12
supplementation slows the accelerated
rate of brain shrinkage and declining
cognitive function. B12 is essential for
energy production, cell health, regulation
of mood and sleep cycles, nerve health and
repair, and prevention of homocysteine, a
serious cardiovascular risk factor known
to cause damage and plaque in the blood
vessels. It can also increase the chances of
a stroke. Harvard
researchers found a
thirty-four percent
decrease in risk
of vision loss in a
study of participants
aged forty-plus who
supplemented with B12.
Another study linked a higher risk of
hearing loss in subjects in their sixties who
were low in B12.
So many people lack B12 because our
body’s ability to absorb it declines with
age as the digestive system becomes less
efficient. Anti-reflux medication and other
drugs further reduce B12 absorption.
The good news is that vitamin B12 is
available in the highly absorbable, clinically
researched form of methyl-cobalamin
sublingual tablets. These dissolve and are
absorbed in the mouth, bypassing the
digestive tract to raise B12 levels in the
body efficiently.
Brain fog, forgetful, feeling old, low energy,
mood swings, difficulty sleeping, pins & needles,
numbness in legs
brain due to a lack of vitamin B12.
Supplementation of methylcobalamin B12
has been shown to reduce the rate of
brain shrinkage & support memory & brain
function. B12 is also known to protect against
homocysteine a serious cardiovascular risk
factor that can also damage the hearing,
eyesight & affect the mood. B12 is essential
for energy, cell health & nerve function.
- WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO HELP! -
Readers respond to our
question last week: Who will
win the general election and
why?
Labour has pushed through far too
many unpopular bills that they never
campaigned on.
A small sample: Three Waters, housing
intensification, mandates, co-governance,
health reforms, with more bills in the
works. Therefore I can’t see them getting
voted back in anytime soon.
I want to see new faces in Parliament
and in particular ex National MP Matt
King and his party DemocracyNZ, as
National is no longer representing my
views.
-D Downward, Bryndwr
Hopefully a National, Act coalition.
Our current Government has managed
to ruin our country. Education, health and
transport sectors are no longer first-world
standard. The covid policies have been
over the top.
The ship was sinking and the champagne
socialist Jacinda jumped overboard.
-Stef Backhouse
I’m afraid to say it but a National, Act
coalition is going to win this election.
Now don’t get me wrong, this is bad
news. But the choice is between a Labour
government, who will do nothing, at least
nothing substantial. Or a National and
Act government, who will slowly erode
the underlying goodness and hope of our
country, but hey at least it’s something.
The Greens are also there and they are
the only party with even an ounce of
empathy towards the struggling working
class, but as always they will get 11-13 per
SpecialiStS in
Helping our
community grow
cent of the vote and spend another three
years yelling into the void of whichever
political nightmare currently holds office
as the earth slowly warms and our brains
rot to dust.
-Josh Watson, Riccarton
When the cameras showed the victorious
Peters-proxied Labour Party partying
and cheering when it was announced, I
feared they weren’t fit for office and that’s
been the case.
At least the Nationals, Act will tidy
things up and hopefully give the vast majority
of Kiwis the things important to us.
-Mark McGoldrick
The majority of New Zealand’s selfsustaining
assets have been destroyed
under Labour and regrettably the
National, Act alliance has spoken little of
restoring or reversing the damage already
caused.
They talk of taxes but nothing of reinstating
for example Marsden Point, which
would remove dependence on expensive
overseas petrol and second grade bitumen.
They need the fresh eyes of a previous
National Party member working together
to take New Zealand out of the Labour
nose-dive by restoring confidence in our
once great country.
Due to his political cognisance, Matt
King of DemocracyNZ is able, and with
DNZ’s policies to not only protect our
assets but preserve the Bill of Rights and
unity of New Zealand, both of which are
questionable at the moment, our country
will potentially be united and profitable
again.
National, Act can’t run on their own, nor
rely on NZ First. They need DemocracyNZ
to get them over the line.
