Executive Committee Retreat to Foster Growth
Location: Benin City, Nigeria.
The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE)
earlier in the year organized an executive committee retreat in Benin,
Nigeria, aimed at generating ideas to propel the Association's
growth and address the challenges facing the petroleum exploration
industry in Nigeria.
At the retreat, the executive committee members engaged in
brainstorming sessions to chart a path towards a more vibrant and
prosperous future.
NAPE, a renowned professional association for geoscientists and
petroleum exploration experts, has long been at the forefront of
promoting the advancement of the Nigerian petroleum industry.
Recognizing the need to stay ahead of evolving trends and emerging
challenges, the association convened this retreat to foster
collaboration and develop innovative strategies to drive growth and
development in the sector.
The retreat provided a conducive environment for the executive
committee members to exchange ideas, explore new avenues to
grow our membership, and discuss ways to enhance collaboration
between industry players and sister associations.
The retreat agenda covered a broad range of topics, including but not
limited to :
Ÿ Membership growth strategies.
Ÿ Sponsorship initiatives.
Ÿ Emphasis on the importance of adopting innovative
approaches to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimise
waste.
Ÿ Value proposition to sponsors.
Ÿ Budget and Appropriations.
Ÿ Sustainable practices.
Ÿ Capacity building initiatives for the membership of the
Association and the staff of the NAPE Secretariat.
Ÿ Attracting industry support.
Ÿ Fostering partnerships both within Nigeria and internationally.
Ÿ Key plans for the year, etc.
The executive committee retreat concluded with a renewed
commitment from NAPE Exco to implement the ideas generated
during the brainstorming sessions.
The Association plans to establish specialized committees to
follow up on key areas of focus and drive their implementation.
Additionally, NAPE Exco committed to engaging with relevant
stakeholders, including government agencies, industry players,
and international partners, to support the growth and development
of the Nigerian petroleum exploration industry.
The retreat marked a significant step towards fostering the
growth of the Association through productive brainstorming
sessions, which identified opportunities while addressing
challenges, and this laid the foundation for a more prosperous and
sustainable tenure for the 2023 calender year.
