About face
From skin-loving sheer tints and pink hair straighteners for a good cause to seaweed scalp scrubs
and Mediterranean-scented body products, here’s what the 03 team are trying this month.
1. Take your vitamins
For those days when you
don’t want/need a full
coverage foundation but
still want your skin to look
lush, new Bobbi Brown
Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint
SPF15 ($86), promises
skin-loving nourishment
and natural-looking,
imperfection-blurring
12-hour coverage. Tapping
into a signature blend of
vitamins B, C and E, shea
butter and hyaluronic acid,
this luxuriously sheer tint
comes in 18 flexible shades
that adapt to a range of
skin tones.
5. An ode to oud
For those (like us)
not lucky enough to
holiday in Europe this
year, Moroccanoil has
released its Oud Minéral
fragrance collection, a set
of four hand and body
products that evoke a
Mediterranean beach
walk, with the minerality
of sea salt, the fresh green
citrus of petitgrain and a
hint of smoky cedarwood.
We’re particularly in love
with the Body Lotion
($55), an ultra-light body
moisturiser formulated
with aloe leaf extract
and a nourishing blend
of argan, tsubaki (aka
camellia) and evening
primrose oils.
2. Pretty in pink
Having already raised $1 million in New
Zealand and US$23 million globally towards
breast cancer research, ghd is back for
another year of thinking pink with the release
of its sought-after, limited-edition ‘Pink’
collection of hot tools, with $20 donated
from each peach-hued tool sold, including the
Platinum+ ($440) in a unique cloudy print and
the Unplugged Cordless Hair Straightener
(pictured, $535) in its first coloured iteration.
3. Whip it good
As fans of both Bumble and
bumble and scalp scrubs
generally, we’re excited to give
the cult haircare brand’s new
Seaweed Whipped Scalp Scrub
($77 at Mecca) a hoon. Part of
a capsule range of seaweedinclusive
products, the scalpbalancing
scrub is infused with
Dead Sea salt and a trio of
nutrient-rich seaweeds to draw
out impurities like dirt, excess
oil and build-up to refresh and
invigorate and add a silly amount
of healthy shine. The delightfully
airy whipped texture and fresh
fragrance of crisp apple, leafy
green notes, mint, pineapple
and white woods are added
bonuses. Use once a week
by sectioning damp hair and
massaging into a lather directly
at the scalp, before rinsing.
4. New and improved
With one Skin Food product sold every four seconds, Weleda’s skincare range has already
attained major cult status, but looking to further enhance the plant-based goodness, the
beauty brand has introduced two new hero ingredients – sacha inchi oil and olive leaf
extract – to the celebrated ‘five-ingredient’ signature formula of chamomile, rosemary
leaf, pansy and calendula and sunflower seed oils. Our pick, Skin Food Nourishing
Cleansing Balm ($26), is a unique balm-to-milk cleanser that can also be used as a
nourishing face mask by applying a small amount onto the face, neck and décolleté, leaving
for 10 minutes then rinsing away.
