It has been another typically busy end to the academic
calendar in the Art Faculty with all the usual Lent term
prep school art events, outreach screen-printing workshops
at The Priory School and the final installation of our outreach
mosaic in Meole Brace Primary School.
There are some exciting new outreach projects in the
pipeline for next academic year, so watch this space! This
year, however, we are sad to say goodbye to two of our
most well-loved members of the art team. Rubia Rose
Southcott has been a dynamic and enthusiastic Art Fellow
on a two-year placement following her degree at Ruskin
College, Oxford. She has been a cornerstone of the Faculty,
assisting both students and staff in the day-to-day running
and the creation of ambitious outcomes. Rubia now moves
on to pastures new back in her hometown of London as a
professional visual artist.
ART
Stewart Harrison has led the teaching of Art History in the
Faculty for the last five years with expertise and energy. The
subject has been enlivened by his presence, the learning
environment of the lecture theatre is carefully decorated
with interesting and helpful material on the walls and
his students will miss his densely packed, interesting and
engaging lessons in the subject. Stewart is looking forward to
enjoying his retirement focusing on his many interests (he is a
Renaissance man!) including photography, travel, music and
photomontage.
Next year we look forward to welcoming two new members
for the team: our new Art Fellow, printmaker and book artist
Rachel Lloyd; and Art Historian Bella Winkley from Benenden
School in Kent.
