Emirati multidiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary artist, <strong>in</strong>vites<br />

present harmoniously <strong>in</strong>tertw<strong>in</strong>e. Born <strong>in</strong><br />
Al A<strong>in</strong>, UAE, <strong>in</strong> 1988, Al Areef’s artistic brilliance<br />
has captivated <strong>the</strong> art scene, bridg<strong>in</strong>g<br />
historical narratives with contemporary<br />
expressions.<br />
Al Areef embarked on his creative journey<br />
with a Bachelor of Arts <strong>in</strong> Mass Communication<br />
from <strong>the</strong> prestigious College of Arts<br />
and Sciences at <strong>the</strong> American University of<br />
Sharjah <strong>in</strong> 2012. To deepen his artistic roots,<br />
he pursued a Masters <strong>in</strong> Art History and Museum<br />
Management at Paris-Sorbonne University,<br />
Abu Dhabi, <strong>in</strong> 2017.<br />
Conceptual photography serves as Al<br />
Areef’s focal po<strong>in</strong>t, yet his creativity spans<br />
diverse mediums: digital art, video <strong>in</strong>stallations,<br />
photo manipulation, oil on canvas, and<br />
<strong>in</strong>tricate <strong>in</strong>k-on-paper illustrations. By meld<strong>in</strong>g<br />
historical symbols with modern techniques,<br />
he sheds light on <strong>the</strong> significance of<br />
bygone cultures, preserv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>ir heritage.<br />
His talent has been celebrated through exhibitions<br />
across <strong>the</strong> UAE and globally. The<br />
‘Portrait of a Nation’ exhibition at Abu Dhabi<br />
Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) <strong>in</strong><br />
2016 ga<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>ternational recognition when<br />
it traveled to <strong>the</strong> ME Collectors Room Berl<strong>in</strong>/<br />
Olbricht Foundation <strong>in</strong> 2017. His <strong>in</strong>fluence<br />
extended to ‘UAE Design Stories’ exhibitions<br />
at Milan Design Week, London Design Fair,<br />
and Galerie Nikki <strong>in</strong> Paris <strong>in</strong> 2018.<br />
The Maraya Art Centre <strong>in</strong> Sharjah showcased<br />
Al Areef’s work dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> ‘Colour Bar:<br />
Colour, <strong>Space</strong>, and Bits per Pixel’ exhibition<br />
<strong>in</strong> 2019, solidify<strong>in</strong>g his place <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> art world.<br />
Notably, <strong>the</strong> Cultural Foundation Art Residency<br />
fur<strong>the</strong>r acknowledged his talent and<br />
commitment.<br />
