Precision-Cut Tissue Slices: Enhancing In Vivo Research and Results<br />

Precision-cut lung, heart, and brain slices are valuable tools<br />

used in research to study various aspects of these organs in a<br />

controlled and detailed manner as they also preserve in-vivo<br />

niches. These slices are thin sections of tissues obtained<br />

through specialized techniques and equipment, ensuring<br />

minimal damage to the tissue's architecture and cellular<br />

structure.<br />

They can help in disease modelling, drug testing and<br />

development, toxicology studies, pharmacokinetics studies,<br />

electrophysiological studies, imaging and histology, and<br />

disease biomarker discovery.<br />

These slices maintain the tissue's native architecture, allowing<br />

the fidelity of research findings. Furthermore, precision-cut slices enable the<br />

investigation of drug permeability and interactions across natural barriers within<br />

organs. Compared to cell cultures, these slices reduce experimental artefacts and<br />

offer more realistic pharmacokinetic data and are more ethical making them a<br />

valuable tool in various research applications.<br />
