Experiences
Cross the Alps by Bernina Express
The Bernina Express rolls along Europe’s
highest, steepest railway – including the
UNESCO-listed Albula-Bernina stretch –
offering unmatched views of the Alps.
Panoramic windows frame ever-changing
vistas of plunging gorges, ice-capped
mountains and spectacular viaducts.
Ride the Rome-to-Sicily sleeper
Go to sleep in one city, wake up in another.
Italy’s sleeper trains allow you to combine
intercity travel with a comfortable overnight
stay. They can even take you all the way
from the ‘Eternal City’ of Rome to the island
of Sicily via a train ferry – an unusual and
unforgettable experience.
Take Bosnia–Herzegovina’s most
scenic route
The 129-kilometre rail journey from Sarajevo to
Mostar is one of Europe’s most scenic. Board
a modern Talgo train, with the option to travel
in First Class, then spend the next 2.5 hours
admiring views of forested mountains, glassy
lakes, and tucked-away villages.
Al Andalus luxury train, Spain
Glamorous 1920s interiors combine with 21stcentury
luxuries aboard Al Andalus. This is the
longest train on Spanish tracks, equalling the
length of a 150-storey skyscraper. Its vintage
carriages once accommodated British royalty
on a jaunt across France, while today they roll
along the sun-soaked south of Spain.
Passengers stay in en-suite, air-conditioned
cabins replete with period detail. The two
onboard restaurants serve Andalucían cuisine
expertly paired with sherries, liqueurs and
teas; while four lounges provide relaxed social
spaces for salon games, drinks and night-time
entertainment. Al Andalus offers a week-long
rail odyssey visiting Seville, Cordoba, Cadiz,
Ronda and Granada.
