on foot
Day 1: Fly to Nairobi
Fly from London (regional connections
available) to Nairobi. Transfer to the Tamarind
Tree Hotel (or similar) for the night. (N)
Day 2: Aberdare National Park
Leave Nairobi for the Aberdare region, known
as the place where a young Queen Elizabeth
first learnt she had ascended to the throne.
Lunch at Aberdare Country Club, then proceed
to Aberdare National Park for wildlife viewing
en route to your lodge. One of the country’s
oldest reserves, this park safeguards rare
alpine forests featuring centuries-old cedars
and camphors. It is home to African elephants,
black rhinos, spotted hyenas, leopards,
colobus monkeys and many more creatures
worth spotting. Overnight at The Ark Lodge.

Days 3 & 4: Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Go on safari in Ol Pejeta, a pristine
‘Big Five’ conservation area home to a
variety of rare species, such as black and
white rhinos, African wild dogs and
Grevy’s zebras. Optional activities include
birdwatching, lion tracking, community tours,
and a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Stay 2 nights at Sweetwaters Serena Camp.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha
Drive south of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift
Valley. After lunch, take a boat ride to enjoy
a walking safari in Crescent Island Game
Sanctuary. This evening, visit the Elsamere
Conservation Centre; the retirement home of
naturalist Joy Adamson. Enjoy an informative
video on Adamson, sample special Kenyan
teas, and explore the museum. Overnight at
Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge. (B, L, D)
Days 6-8: Masai Mara
Transfer to the Masai Mara – Kenya’s most
famous wildlife reserve – for 3 days of safari
thrills. All of the ‘Big Five’ can be found here,
as well as hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, bat-eared
