the story of a child who is dear to me. In 2019, a friend
of mine recounted her encounter with a woman at
the Immigration office in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. She
had come with her two-month-old granddaughter
to obtain a passport as she needed to undergo
a three-stage ventricle palliation surgery in India.
According to what I was told, the baby’s grandfather
said they should throw the child away as they could
not afford the money for the surgery and all their funds
were being drained taking care of her. However, the
grandmother refused and decided to try all she could
to save the baby’s life.
When I heard the story, I was moved to tears
and decided to help them. I got in touch with the
grandmother, got all the details about the baby’s
condition and the hospital they had contacted in
India. We planned for their trip and the baby was
accompanied by her mother and grandma to India.
To the glory of God, the surgery was successful. After
about a year, she had to go for the second stage of
the surgery, and it went well too. She is now a beautiful,
bright and bubbly four-year-old who is currently in
nursery school. We are still taking care of her health as
she needs to see specialists for regular monitoring.
We have also granted her educational scholarship
up to university level. Whenever I speak to her on the
phone or she comes over to see me, I am always
grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to help
and save the life of this child. I know God has a plan for
her life and I trust God to give me the grace to support
her to fulfil His destiny for her life.

and philanthropy, how do you strike a balance
between ambition and altruism, ensuring success in
both domains?
As a Christian and someone guided by the life of
Jesus, I am called to love my neighbour as myself.
Through the years and by the grace of God, I have
tried to give back to society in various ways. The

When I see the lives that have been transformed by
our philanthropic work, it reinforces my commitment
to reach out and touch as many lives as God gives me
the grace and enablement to do.
Accomplish Magazine: Considering the global
audience, how do you perceive the role of Africa,
and Nigeria in particular, in shaping the future of
sustainable business practices?
Africa, particularly Nigeria, has a vital role in defining
sustainable business practices globally. The
responsible management of natural resources,
innovation, economic growth, and technological
improvement in Africa can influence global
sustainability. Nigeria can set a positive example
for global businesses by giving value to ethical
practices and social responsibility. In addition, making
contributions to the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals, integration of sustainability ethics
into global supply chains, and meeting the demands

and Flourish Africa are two
organisations through which
some of these philanthropic
activities are executed and
they help to provide a balance
between philanthropy and
altruism which speaks to giving
to others to the extent of hurting
yourself. Rather than stifle
my ambition in business and
ministry, all of these have served
to fire it up the more so that I can
achieve more and consequently,
be able to give out more.
