Developers mow fire risk berm<br />

Lincoln have mowed their<br />

berm after it was deemed a<br />

fire risk.<br />

An article in the January<br />

17 <strong>Selwyn</strong> <strong>Times</strong> highlighted<br />

how berms being<br />

left unmowed escalate the<br />

fire risk.<br />

Fire risk is already high<br />

with areas north of the<br />

Rakaia River entering a<br />

prohibited fire season last<br />

week. A prohibited fire<br />

season means no open-air<br />

fires are allowed and all<br />

fire permits are suspended.<br />

After the article appeared<br />

the council contacted<br />

the landowner, Lime<br />

Developments, to mow<br />

the grass, which was done<br />
