IT WILL be business as usual
for the Lincoln Medical Centre,
despite new ownership.
The Gerald St practice is being
bought by two hapū and a charitable
trust.
Paenga Kupenga Ltd (the
economic arm of Kaiapoi-based
Ngāi Tūāhuriri), Taumutu Partnerships
(the economic arm of
Southbridge-based Te Taumutu
Rūnanga) and Pegasus Health
Ltd have set up a new venture,
with the medical centre being its
first purchase.
Said Pegasus
Health chief
executive Kim
Sinclair-Morris:
“Paenga
Kupenga,
Taumutu
Partnerships
and Pegasus
Health share a
commitment
to developing
a sustainable primary care
network in Waitaha that delivers
excellent care, equity and access
to health care for Māori and
priority populations.”
Despite that commitment, for
now there will be no changes to
how the centre operates or its
patients, name or location.
“There are no plans to change
the way in which the Lincoln
Medical Centre operates and no
changes are planned to the way
in which enrolments are made,”
Sinclair-Morris said.
Business as usual for Lincoln
Medical Centre’s new owners
NEW OWNERS: Lincoln Medical Centre is being bought by
two hapū and a charitable trust.
She said the current owners
and staff are staying on, and any
enrolled patients can expect the
same level of service.
“Lincoln Medical Centre
was chosen as the first practice
in our portfolio as it is a
sustainable business which
delivers excellence in primary
care, providing us with an
opportunity to explore and
develop practice ownership
while learning from its owners
and wider team.”
Sinclair-Morris would not say
how much the partnership was
paying for the practice, citing
commercial sensitivity.
Sinclair-Morris said they will
be exploring future options as
part of the partnership, with no
specific plans as yet.
“Our supply of investment
capital is limited, and we must
continue to ensure we have resources
to deliver on our wider
charitable objectives before
considering further investment
opportunities.
“We are beginning with
practice investments that are
aligned to our purpose and role.
As the returns from our investments
grow, we will be able to
invest sustainably in community
programmes with a focus on
equity and access to healthcare,”
Sinclair-Morris said.
Lincoln Medical Centre with
