ARTISTS IN FOCUS <strong>2024</strong><br />

Ana Liz Cordero’s art is deeply rooted <strong>in</strong> her Ecuadorian<br />

heritage and childhood experiences <strong>in</strong> the Incan settlements<br />

of Azuay and Cañar. She was <strong>in</strong>spired <strong>by</strong> the Incan people’s<br />

susta<strong>in</strong>able practices, their respect for nature, and their efficient<br />

use of resources. This connection led her to view art as a means of<br />

preserv<strong>in</strong>g the ecosystem and foster<strong>in</strong>g unity between humans and<br />

the environment.<br />

Based <strong>in</strong> Dubai s<strong>in</strong>ce 2019, Ana Liz <strong>in</strong>corporates elements from the<br />

UAE’s diverse landscapes <strong>in</strong>to her art, embrac<strong>in</strong>g abstraction as a way<br />

to connect her Ecuadorian heritage with her current surround<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

Her work serves as a rem<strong>in</strong>der of the <strong>in</strong>terconnectedness of humanity<br />

and nature, echo<strong>in</strong>g Michelangelo’s belief that true art reflects<br />

div<strong>in</strong>e perfection and the importance of car<strong>in</strong>g for the environment.<br />
